Eight ball shift knob replacement

I found eight ball on amazon believe it or not, scroll through them, only found one that says authentic eight ball. American Shifter is company.

I saw those too. But they all have threaded mounts. Based on the pic posted earlier, I dont see threading where it screws on.
Told ya could screw up toast.

I’m getting it today, I’ll get it on this weekend. I’ll let you know how it works out. It comes with a couple threaded sleeves, my plan is to put sleeve on drill in a set screw then screw on ball, but that’s a perfect world, one in which I don’t reside in .

This is the best I could do since I’ve already take it apart.

Pry where the red arrow is in the first picture (yes, where the French fry dust is, @Rhinebeck01– gently— very easy to pop up) with a flat head screw driver. This will allow you to life the boot up.

Then, once the boot is pulled up over the knob, you will see a screw. Remove it. The screw is located approx where the red dot is in the second picture under the boot.

Then, remove the four Allen screws, detaching the knob, allowing the boot to be freed from the knob completely, leaving you with the boot ready to snap back into place. (Third picture for Allen screws. Two on either side. Blue circle shows location on the auto shift knob. Same location on transfer case shift knob).

Finally, attach the new knob to the existing handle and slide the boot over the base of whatever knob you buy. I supposed you could use glue to attach it permanently, but mine slid right over and for snug.

I am missing something, I got my 5 ball from American shifter, they have a threaded insert.
The transfer case shifter shaft is not threaded, from the looks of your pic
is the JK transfer case shifter shaft the same as the JL?

Can’t speak to the JK transfer case shaft, but the automatic shifter shaft wasn’t threaded on the JK. The baseball shift knob came with several different sized inserts so you have options for different shaft sizes (this is still a Jeep conversation right??), and once you find the closest fit, you insert the sized piece into the baseball and then slip that all over the shaft. Once that’s on, there are small Allen screws that go into the base of the knob to secure the for even more. Hope that mumble jumble makes sense.

I swapped mine out as well. Needed to move it out of the way of my knee...It took less than 10 minutes to swap.
