Is anyone using the new EcoFlow 800w alternator charger? I have it connected to my EcoFlow Delta 2 Max, and it's really fast! Here's how it works: you set the voltage limit, and then when you start your Jeep, the charger kicks in once the voltage hits that voltage. I've set mine at 13 volts, but I've noticed that the charger only starts when the voltage hits 13.6 volts. It would be better if the charger could start at a lower voltage, for example, 13.3 volts. The adjustments are currently in 0.5 volt increments, so making the increments smaller would improve the performance in my opinion.

Does anyone else have this issue? I have tried 2 different units, and they both function the same.

I just got mine. Where did you mount yours?
I have an American Adventure Labs cargo shelf. I mounted mine to the part that attaches the shelf to the to the roll bar. Under the shelf, that piece has some holes in it and I used the bracket to secure it to that part. It’s hard to explain but it works perfectly.

Check your app when the Jeep starts. Mine won’t engage unless it hits 13.6v. Yours might be fine by my setup does not always get to 13.6. If i drop the setting to 12.5 , it runs when the Jeep is off.

I have the same American Adventure Shelf - could could you please share a photo on how you mounted it? Would also love to know how you ran the cable to the battery?

I have it attached with one bolt, and it is really secure. When I get some time, I'm going to drill a hole and secure it with two. It fits perfectly, is out of the way, and provides great access.

This solution is temporary. I ran it along the door jamb. I need a better and more permanent solution. Since there are already cables there, I don't have much room to work with. I need to make it longer, remove the trim, and make it a long-term fix. I wanted to ensure that the location is correct before I implement a permanent solution."

@Waxings, is it possible there's a voltage drop at the charger? Or that the unit has a startup delay to ensure the voltage is consistent?
I don't think so. I have tested two units, and they both do the same thing. I feel it is a software issue that can be fixed if they allow for a finer adjustment of the voltage limit. You can only adjust .5 V increments. The perfect spot for me would be 12.8 V

I typically run 12.9 V off and 13.4 Running but the Ecoflow does not engage until it hits about 13.5-13.6. It is strange.

Looks good like that. I’m trying to get it on the other side of the bracket but these cables are so big/thick and also have the bulky thing by the plug in.

I like what you came up with, I’ll share what I’m doing with mine as soon as I finalize it.

Appreciate the photo!

I’m contemplating running the ground to a more localized ground in the back to eliminate the need for a large cable to tuck under the trim.

I would reach out to EcoFlow about it to see what they say. Because it is an “Alternator Charger” might need the negative to be as close as possible to the alternator…

Hi,

quick update in case someone else is looking for install of the alternator charger.
I found DV8 rear window Molle panel (quite expensive but perfect for this install and other items) the holes line up perfectly for the charger to be mounted and part of the mount have a slot for the cables.

See photos attached, this will be my permanent solution as it fits perfectly wi the length of the cables all the way to the battery.

I installed it in the driver side. Also have American Adventure Lab rear cargo.

hope that helps!

feel free to ask any questions.
