I love moab probably more than any wheeling destination on the planet and EJS is the only week of the year I'd absolutely refuse to go. Much like the rubicon trail on a jamboree weekend. Sitting in traffic on the trail is only slightly less frustrating than sitting in traffic on the freeway to me. I know I tend to run trails at higher speeds than most which only makes it worse. I'd rather deal with snow in the winter or triple digit heat in the dead of summer than the traffic that comes with safari week.
That's why we went the week before. I don't enjoy doing trails in large groups so wanted to avoid EJS.

We’ve been wheeling in Moab twice, but never during an event. I have no idea what to expect at EJS so at least it will be a learning experience.

I get that, but as someone doing these for the first time- I don’t mind the spotters/extra help.

My first trail in Moab was Hell's Revenge during EJS. I was on the "built" CJ-7 ( on 35's!!) bumper, like a foot away.
When we stopped I told him I was sorry, but I had never done anything like this off-roading. He was kind and understanding.

He said keep the trail markings under the center of the Jeep and stay between the paint lines.

Probably my favorite trail to this day.

How many are going on the Trifecta run? We did get stuck behind groups at times. There was one point where we were stuck for an hour waiting for people to pick lines and spot down.

At EJS they know all the lines though so I'm sure will get everyone through quickly.
I know they cap the signups, but I don’t know how many. It is showing full, so I’m expecting it to be pretty packed. I’m glad we’re getting a chance to do Poison Spider ahead of time, that way if we do have to rush, we’ll have had a chance to explore already.

You will get the chance to go 4-wheeling with 10,000 of your closest friends. Traffic in town and on the trails is congested. But I know of no other place or event where you get to see thousands of well built Jeeps. I consider it a must do item for a bucket list if you are an avid 4-wheeler. Not necessarily an every year must do item, but at least once to experience it.

I have found that MOST of the congestion in town and on the trails are from people that are there on their own, because they want to be part of the crowd, and not people on a designated trail for the Jeep safari. Luckily they close some of the safari trails to other traffic on the days the RR4W are using them.

I live in Utah and generally avoid the trails during EJS just because it takes so long, but I usually go to Moab for the expo and to see all the cool Jeeps. As soon as I see the what I think is the coolest looking Jeep ever, another one comes along and tops it. Really amazing builds there.

Also if you go and get a raffle ticket for the Friday night raffle, drop that ticket off right away and get there early and bring a camping chair. The arena fills up fast and people tape down blankets to save their space.

What trails are in that level?

I will be there doing the junior package’ and some other random trails. Made some good friends last year and had a lot of fun.

Yeah if you did the Rubicon on 35's, you got this!!!

3d, Behind the rocks, Jax Trax

Should be pretty chill wheelin compared to the Rubicon and Slick Rock.. which were a blast but technical and rough on 35s.

I'll be going this year as well. I've been going to EJS since 1995 - with a few gaps here and there, so not as committed as Matt. :) I get the part about 4,000 Jeeps driving up and down Main Street but for me I have a lot of long time friends that go every year so it's a social thing to see them when I can. This year I'm liking the new trails out in the San Rafael Swell so three of my days will be spent out of Green River.
