I knocked my front end out of whack on the Rubicon trail a few days ago and need to readjust the drag link to get the steering wheel straight. Problem is, all the the E16 Torx sockets I can find have too thick a wall thickness. I've tried grinding one down, but still too thick. Is there a special tool for this?

not sure what drag link you have but never had one that had a E torx socket.

Please post a close up pic of the hardware and let us know the manufacturer. Is it not a situation where it would be cheaper to replace the hardware than to fabricate a tool?

OEM uses a 15mm socket IIRC

Hope you can see the pic. I modified a lot of things back in 2022, mostly with tereflex parts. Unfortunately, I don’t remember if this is tereflex or not. I can’t find markings on it.

If there’s not room for a standard 12 point socket for some reason, I think I would swap out the hardware for some that uses a regular internal torx bit or Allen bit. They don’t take much torque.

Try a 12 point 10mm socket first.

FYI - a few years after installing their trackbar I wanted to adjust the length. After making the change I went to retorque the collar bolts and ended up twisting one in half and stretching the other before I could get to 60 ft-lbs.

I think what happens with their clamp over time is the two sides of the clamp collar stretch and end up touching each other, like it appears yours are doing in the picture. When you try to retighten them you go from well under 60 to way over when the two sides come back together.

This is also where I learned that I shouldn’t do non-essential maintenance when you only have one vehicle. I did it on a Saturday and couldn’t drive anywhere to even look for bolts. Fastest way to get back on the road was just order another Teraflex trackbar from Amazon.
