So does anyone know if the “extra” battery in the E-torque system can cause problems when trying to keep the primary (12v) battery on a battery tender? I’m out of town for extended periods, so like to keep trickle chargers on the vehicle batteries while gone. Have been getting a fault on the battery tender supposedly indicating a short or bad battery. The battery is only 3 months old and checks out fine at the dealer.
What specific “battery tender” do you have? Is it possible it’s not functioning correctly? I have an etorque and use a Noco Genius 10 charger with good results. Did the dealer give you a paper printout of the load test results so you can post a pic of it here?

When the jeep is off the 48V is physically disconnected, further more the electricity transfer is one way 48v -> 12v and not the contrary. I suspect you put your tender directly on the negative battery pole and not on the IBS who is not recommended.

That’s the exact charger that I was using. I did hook it directly to the negative post, as Pape surmised. Moved that connection, and so far so good! Thanks much!

You are correct, sir! That’s exactly what I did. Moved that negative connection and seems to be working mo better!
Hopefully I didn’t fry any of the electronics with the incorrect hookup. No warning lights yet. The owner’s manual talks about the correct jump-start procedures, but nary a word about this. Would have been nice to at least have a footnote somewhere about it.
Thanks again!!

Using the same one 10X1 and it is currently tendering my battery. Since it is having ring only connector it always went on the one of the screw for the auxiliary battery that we do not have. Will snap a pic at some point but when the snow melt lol.
In the summer I use the my old genius 7.5 charger who have clamp and I did also experience the mentioned issue of bad battery and I too switched to the screw on top of the IBS to resolve the issue.
