I'm considering adding a dual door group to my eventual JLUWXR order. I can't find the differences between the Dual Door Group with Base Uppers and the Dual Door Group with Premium Uppers on the Jeep build & price site.

Other than looks, what are the advantages of the half doors over the full-size doors?
What are the differences in the uppers of the two groups?
How does Jeep ship the extra doors? I understand they're placed in side the rig - is that correct?
Is there enough room to also ship the Dual Top group inside the vehicle?

Any additional information would be appreciated.

The main difference between the base and premium uppers is the material used. I believe the premiums are twill while the base uppers are vinyl (similar to the base soft top vs the premium soft top). Twill is just a little thicker and also has a darker, deeper black color.

The main benefit of half doors is that when you remove the uppers the opening is a lot larger than just having the window down. It’s kind of an in between between doors on and doors off. As for shipping, I know that they typically come inside the vehicle. Not sure about the dual top group though. Hope this helps.

I have a 2 door. Dual doors and uppers are packed quite tight in the back with the seat up. I also have the premium uppers. It's just a better quality and material.
I have had the half doors on all summer and have not used the uppers yet.
Looks much better than the full doors and is a great ride. Very open feeling. You would not regret getting them!

Thanks, @sebythellama and @MZ77 . That is helpful. Now to justify the cost of the extra doors...~

Not sure what you are looking for, but I down sized to a Sport from a Sport S / Willy's to justify the cost. Well worth the down size for the half doors.
Well worth it....With the window frames gone, it is very open.....like I said, have not used the uppers yet. Got it ned in July '22.

You cannot order both options (Dual Door Group and Dual Top). My recommendation is to order dual door and then pickup a soft top after. much easier to find soft top on resale market than half doors that match your color.

Interesting. The Build & Price page as well as the pricing sheets available on the forum do not indicate that exclusion. I'll be sure to verify prior to ordering - you're right the dual door group is a higher priority than the soft top.

If you want half doors and dual top you’ll have to pick one or the other from factory order. You can’t have both from factory since there is not enough room in either a 4 or especially a 2 dr Jeep to hold all the boxes the doors and the soft top come in. So you have to choose one or the other.
If you want a hardtop and half doors then factory order just the hardtop, black or body color, AND the half door group. Then find a new take off or used softop or aftermarket top on marketplace/Craigslist or some other for sale online site. The hardtop option will add the rear window wiper/washer and defrost function from factory. Doing this afterwards will cost too much. So if you want a hardtop definitely do it from factory. If you just want a soft top and no hardtop then all you have to do is add the dual door group. Good luck with your order and make sure you check out the list of dealers listed on this forum for deap discounts on a factory order.

I have the Sky One Touch (non-removable) top and the half doors/premium uppers. I love the completely open ride with the SOT open and just the half doors in place...BUT if you drive at interstate speeds and there is any crosswind at all you will take a beating from it. Also...if you live in a showery climate like FL you will need to carry both your uppers and the rear quarter windows almost all the time. That will fill three quarters of your cargo space carrying all that stuff. Just some practical things you might not think of. But the open motoring with half doors, and the SOT open is UNMATCHED. And as a bonus...if you don't carry the uppers and rear quarters the Jeep loses about 100 lbs. I'm a little anal so I weighed all that stuff to see.

This is how they stuff the half doors with premium uppers in the back of a 2-Door from the factory. As you can see and has been mentioned above, no way there's room for the dual top group. Also, at least in a 2-Door, the back seat was folded to fit all that, so if you have two friends with you on the day you pick it up you'll have to have them draw straws for the only remaining seat.

Where did you get your half doors? I have a 2018 JL 2 door and would love to get these.
