Hello, I have just built a lift with core 4x4 arms, evo springs (4.5 inch) and track bars, fox shocks and I got some adjustable sway bar disconnects for the front. Would it be unsafe or or unwise to drive without a rear sway bar?

It's perfectly fine if you don't make turns at higher speeds. It really depends on what you mean by "drive". Around town at 25-30 MPH, just take corners slower. 50 MPH curvy highway, pucker factor will take effect and you will definitely feel its absence.

I had a problem with my sway bar links once and had to drive home without them for a little ways. Yeah, they make a huge difference in handling curves. The faster you go and the sharper the curve, the more tippy the Jeep is and the greater your pucker factor.

The rear is hardly noticeable in the street if the front is connected. Conversely the front disconnected even with the rear in place has tons of body roll and really leans in the corners. A few members have treated the flex on a ramp with and without the rear and if anything it being connected actually helped the front flex a little bit more. There's nothing to be gained ditching it.

What benefit are you trying to achieve by disconnecting the rear?

I actually had the same question a while ago. My thinking was you see quick disconnects for the front, why not the rear? You assume that you need as much flex in the rear as you would the front to get over the same obstacle. The way I understand it, not so much. There's got to be some sort of tension in there, physically grounding the Jeep on all fours. Without it, an object in motion will stay in motion unless otherwise acted upon by a similar force .... enter rollover.
