Dragging logs (off road) with Rubicon

I have pulled many big logs with my 2 door JK. You can't even tell they are back there. It pulls them with zero effort. I have been doing this for the last 3 years. This is a job that was once done by a horse:cwl:

I bet the horse didn't even have adjustable track bars either...

Well I am no horse rancher but I believe you can adjust there track bars with the grain/oat mixture you feed them.

The right tool, for the right job, is a good saying. I have no doubt the Jeep will be able to pull logs. That being said, if you dont have that option, just be very careful, and go slow. Just remember, when you use your jeep, or any other tool, or piece of equipment, for a job it wasnt intended to do, you become your own warranty. Let's get real folks, if you break something, by using it in a way it wasnt meant to be used, would it be fair to make someone else lay for the repair? Also, if you do break it, pulling logs, dont come crying to us about the Dealership denying the warranty, and dont lie to the dealership. It's a character defining thing.

I say go for it ! If that's the biggest piece of equipment you have to work with. There's no reason why a JL would not be capable of this. Watching the trans. temp if an auto would be mandatory. Will it cause more wear and tear - Sure , Just like snow plowing, farmers pulling grain wagons and hay wagons out in the field all the time. I used a K-5 Blazer for snow plowing and pulling a disc when needed and that was with an auto trans. I did have a remote trans. oil cooler and remote filter, temp. gauge, HD fan. I did find out that if I plowed snow in high range the trans would overheat in a matter of minutes at below freezing temps. but using low range temps. would be normal.
