Door Warping

Clean it up good and put a coat of some good wax on it then cover it with dirt and mud while you enjoy driving it.

Hi Everyone...

I know this is a common issue, but I have warps in my front doors that are really bugging me. I have 2 friends with newer jeeps and they have it as well but to a lesser degree (at least it looks that way - their jeeps a re white and grey),

I searched and did not see anything from members that had this issue and if the dealer sorted it out or is there is an underlying cause I can fix myself.

have a look at the pics but sure you have all seen this a million times.

Thanks in advance and let me know if there is anything I can do or just have to live with it.

My 2025 black JL 2dr had it when I bought it. The aluminun reacts to heat change to a point where it buckles where it is fastened to non moving parts like door hinges that do not expand and contract with temp changes.

Just take the doors off. Problem solved.

It’s not that they don’t expand and contract, it’s that expansion and contraction are affected in the units of in/(in-F) and aluminum has a thermal expansion coefficient of almost 2x that of steel. So large flat panels like a door are most affected.

The warping has never bothered me, that's what jeeps are suppose to look like. Now the bubbling paint that one does bother me.

I have not noticed a difference on hot vs cold days. Mine are warped at all temperatures.

Yes, once they warped they will not un warped because the metal has been stretched and can't shrink back.

That is what happens when an aluminum body is used as a ground plane. The Britsh never did that with their Healys, Jags MGA or any of their aluminum body panels.
