Hi, I was wondering when you have your top off and the doors still on what keeps people from reaching in and unlocking the doors manually? I’ve heard that once you lock them they will stay locked after a certain amount of time without the remote. Is this true? What kind of security features have any of you added like motion sensors, etc? I know it’s a Jeep and typically try to not keep anything valuable but just seeing what my options are.

They can't unlock my doors cause they are at home in my garage,

Really your only option to keep anything "secure" is to lock it in the rear trunk area with the tailgate locked, which isn't much.

Just their own good character, if they have it.

E.g., it's dead simple for a lanky fellow like myself to reach in and manually unlock the rear doors on my JLU. Perhaps the same is true for the two-door owners.

I installed a locking console safe to hold small, important bits & bobs. Otherwise, nothing of any true value is left in the vehicle.

There are motion-sensitive alarms to consider, as part of a straightforward security posture. Example.

You can double-click the lock button. I have heard it 'sets' the alarm. try it to see what happens when the door is unlocked manually.

My plan is to leave the doors unlocked and keep nothing of value inside. I may pick up one of those locking cargo area storage lids just in case.

If the top is removed why bother even using the door locks? Our old '88 YJ soft top didn't even come with door locks!

Always cover your stuff. I carry a dark old blanket to toss over anything I’m driving with of value. It could be a stack of Christmas gifts and they won’t look like much under an old blanket. It works. No worries with doors off.
