Does the OEM 5" radio require code to use in another vehicle?

Does the OEM 5" radio require code to use in another vehicle? Want to sell my old unit (not that anyone would really want it),but do not know if it has secuirty code to use.

It's not a "code". But you will not be able to just install a used radio in a different vehicle. This goes for pretty much all automakers anymore. When these units are programmed, they are locked to a VIN. They CAN be moved to another vehicle, but they will need to be re-flashed with "blank" firmware because when the firmware is flashed, the system pulls the VIN from the BCM and installs it with the firmware.

Most dealers have no clue how to do this, from my experience. So good luck. It's also likely not worth the effort for you...the 5" unit is going to be nearly worthless on the second-hand market.

I was kinda wondering about that. It really isn't worth the effort considering I couldn't replace the dang thing fast enough! Who else would would want it?

It won't need reflashed, you just need an activation code. When I bought a used 5", the seller had his buddy at the dealer provide the activation code.

I'd be happy to send it to you. I do not have any code or it has not been flashed. Took it out of my personal vehicle and it works perfectly.

I had the same experience, I swapped to one with SXM and had to use a code. I later sold it and included the code and it worked in that Jeep too.
