What other kind of Jack I could carry with me? Storage is so limited in my little two-door
You should be able to fit a Big Red bottle jack in there comfortably. That's what I keep (with a few jack pads ) behind my front seat, but I removed the rear bench years ago. As others have mentioned, the hi-lift is an expensive decoration for most. It's exposed to damage if mounted to the rear bumper. If cost is an issue, selling it here on the forum can be an option.

This is going the ruffle the feathers of some pavement princesses here, but...

High-lift jacks are just plain cringeworthy. I've seen very, very few instances of them actually being needed.

A factory jack (or decent bottle jack) and a platform will perform a lot better and doesn't require the installation of an expensive hood ornament.
Agree and disagree...
A good bottle jack and a base is the most space saving setup and will work for many situations when a jack is needed.

The HiLift jack is one of those tools that most will never use or need to use to their full extent.
  • They can lift higher than a bottle jack, by a large measure.
  • They can be used as a winch to recover a vehicle - Though very slowly
  • They can be used as a winch to stabilize a vehicle during a recovery scenario while winching.
  • They can be used to break a bead on a tire for repairs.
  • They can be used to spread open a collapse cage or roof after a serious roll
  • The handle can be used as a breaker bar extension or to sleeve a bent tie rod
  • And I'm sure I'm forgetting a few uses.
BUT, they can also be dangerous when used, so we do recommend to get some training on how to use them properly. As mentioned above, there are some good YouTube videos out there on how to use them, there are also quite a few cringy ones.

The best would be to get some first hand (and hands-on) training with a HiLift instructor. There are quite a few out there around the country. Our own @Tech Tim does Hi-Lift classes here in the PNW if you are local.
