Spending a few months in the mountains of Northern Utah. Currently, the JLU has 35in Nitto Ridge Grapplers that I love, but I am hesitant if they can hold up to the winter months.

I plan on doing some winter wheeling while I am here and at least one Moab trip is already planned. I am using the JL as a daily while I am up here. I know the Ridge Grapplers aren't winter rated per se, but should I grab a new pair of tires for the snow and ice? Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

If it were me, I would give them a try in the snow and see how they do. I've been pleasantly surprised more than once over the years. They may do just fine. If they suck, then swap them out for something else. You could order tires and have them delivered up there if it came to that. I wouldn't toss your investment in those Nittos without at least giving them a chance. ;)

I would buy chains before I would buy another set of tires if I didn’t live there permanently. It will give you peace of mind in case your tires can’t handle the snow. If you end up not using them, you can return them after the trip.
