Do you have the aux battery or the eTorque setup? If you have the aux battery, have you replaced that as well ? The two are connected in parallel, one bad one can kill the other.

You really need to perform a full charging system check, and if you have the aux battery setup; you need to test both batteries separately.

I just replaced both the aux battery and the main battery because the aux battery failed
Now I noticed driving or at idle it is charging 13.0 volts put when I am coasting to a stop with my foot completely off the gas pedal it jumps up to 14.2 volts
Before I replaced the battery's it was always charging 14.2 to 14.4
Is this normal or do I have a problem
Thanks

Your readings are normal. It’s the intelligent battery monitoring/variable output alternator system. If you romp on it going up a hill, the PCM tells the alternator to cut output, thus requiring less power from the motor; better mileage/less emissions. When coasting, the alternator output is increased to keep battery charged, which does not require increased engine load to drive it.

I have the aux bypassed. It is brand new as well. I used it to start the Jeep when my main died. Kept me out of trouble throughout this whole mess. That ones strong, holds its charge for over a week no issues.

Anyway. My new main battery is running very strong. I got the diehard platinum from advanced autoparts.

80ah and 850 CCA.

It has been holding voltage just fine, so at the end of the day that odyssey battery was just bad. I will continue to monitor my battery just to be sure. But so far so good.
