Thank you,

Ill work on lower bottom and the ill take meassurements of the diode dynamic ss3 lights and do a cut out along with a mounting point for it to mount behind the bumper or just do flush mounts? what do yall think would be better, a universal circular cut ? and I guess I can leave enough room between the holes for a plate mount

trying to visualize what you're wanting there, can you do a rough sketch? Might be better to do something that would make it easy if you needed to change lights for some reason down the road.

DD ss3 lights have different bezel options. Factory bumpers came with the round option. I just made the bracket to work with the Barnes4wd bumper. I guess keeping it simple with round and figure all the up, down, left and right into the brackets. So it’ll just center with the bumper holes.

Here’s where I’m at now. I’m really not liking the final lower puzzle piece but there isn’t much room unless you cut frame. I may still add it or just gussets inside after fog light placement. I’ll finish this up with 1/8” thick and weld it more for strength and testing. For comparison…. Many other after market companies that have “heavy duty steel” bumpers made in China are all 1/8” thick with zero gussets. I had the R.R Arcus before. Pretty thin and I don’t think I could call it true 1/8”. But that’s a different story.

Ready to test fit lights but calling it quits for today. I just work on it for a couple or so hours after the day job. I’ll continue more Monday night I think.

Have a Happy Father’s Day to all,

Nice job! Are you going a similar route in back w/ a nice compact setup w/ great departure angle?
Always like to see DIY iron work, and even better when it's well planned and executed :)

Yeah, I’m thinking since I don’t have a hitch I can go slim design but add “ears”

I'm picturing a pair of very tight ears to break up that square log look. And a couple of shackle mounts.

yeah if i add to it ill just add an angle from the top going in to the bottom but just keeping it to a minimal. many other log bumpers and this was basically a copy but once I add the front shackle mounts, lights and paint, it'll pretty much all blend in. Once i test fit the lights and its placement i can weld it more and paint it. just dont want to weld fully and still need to alter any mounting points

I'm looking forward to seeing it. So many of the available bumpers are completely over done.

That's why I keep telling myself to finally build one. All these bumpers looking all hideous totally out of character

Progress on the bumper. Lights arrived and had to redo the placement of the fog light mounts but I just drilled a hole instead of just cutting new face. And used the brackets that come with the Diode Dynamics light. But I need to change the slot direction to be able to move light away from bumper face for more adjustments. All in all it’s getting there. Easier to buy a premade bumper but I’m determined to finish this ?

I ordered the factory kit to go in the bumper to get the adapter harness with it. But I used the universal mounting bracket of theirs to mount the light. The circle holes take away from the blockiness a bit as it pulls yours eyes away from the bumper itself. Still need to cut plates for the shackle mounts but that’s the easy part.

Mounted the SS3 Pro with combo lens on top of bumper. Opinions thoughts ? I debated on going with the S5 but one thing is for certain…. These two combined will be plenty bright ☀
