DT is the best. I've used them for 20yrs now. Like a dozen sets. Friends and family also. Always recommend them. Excellent customer service. Best in industry. I've been in the auto service industry and no company/shop matches these guys. And they work hard and non stop 6 days a week. Crazy how fast, efficient and quality of work they do. They definitely earn whatever pay they are making. Local shop I use all stay until every vehicle they have taken in and promised for the day is done, no matter how late. I've seen them take in customers 5 min before closing for repairs and even all new sets, walk ins at the last minute. Any other shop I've been in over the decades says sorry come back tomorrow we are closing. They will match any price all you have to do is show them the better price. Even the buy 3 get one free offers. I've even had them do better than beat the price. They will work with you no matter your budget. They patch for free whether you bought from them or not. They will put their certificates on new/newer tires, if they have enough tread depth and they sell the brand, on tires you didn't even buy from them. When I bought my JLUR new I went to them and put the certs on all 5 tires. They are big on tire/wheel mounting safety rules. Which is good but can be off putting to some that want that wider tire on non approved wheel widths. I've even bought a set of 4 new tires from a local ford dealer for a super duty I bought in a private sale out of state that had dry rotted tires. Drove home 600 miles. Went to local DT the next day and told them I didn't like the new tires and wanted to change them out. They offered me full price credit for the set I just put 600 miles on toward the new set I purchased that day from them. Crazy. But they are not perfect, no one is. I've had a few studs crossed threaded over the years and they won't do the repair. They send you to an affiliated local shop and pay for it or they will reimburse you if you DIY or use your shop of choice, with a receipt. Recently the shop I use has added an alignment machine. I had a new set installed last month. They did the alignment check without my knowledge. I was a waiter. Tech came to me with spec sheet and explained some numbers were off. Offered to do the alignment at a cost but also told me he couldn't fix a few of the numbers, it was beyond their abilities. Just adjustments, no parts needed replacing. I declined and mentioned to the manager that if you can't do a complete alignment then you shouldn't offer them. Why would you charge a customer for an incomplete alignment then tell them to go elsewhere for the completion? Making the customer pay twice. I hope they stay with tires, it's what they do. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Discount must be different in AZ becasue I just went to the Discount website yesterday to price some tires for my son's 4runner and there was a $115 installation & Maintenance charge. You are correct about the Road Hazard but when Costco is including something that Discount wants $250-$300 for then Costco is a better deal.

It's a poorly worded line item imo. Once upon a time Discount offered two balances, one time and life time. Customers would buy one time to save a few bucks then demand they be balanced every rotation. Also it became easier to simply have the routine rotation include balancing the fronts to help automate the techs out back. Now every tire gets lifetime balancing too. It's a blanket charge for everything. Jeep sized tires used to be $20 each for lifetime, valves $3 ea. And that was before dealing with sensors. Not much has changed price wise.

Now, one thing that has changed and no one mentions post Covid and inflation is tire prices have increased over 30% since 2021. Since they aren't an every day item like groceries the topic is ignored.

I only have 1 DT experience. I have a Rubicon JLU and wanted to put 37s on it. I had not installed my lift yet but had read plenty of posts about the 37s fitting stock rubis. DT said they would mount and balance the tires, but would not install them on the vehicle because they would rub. Oh well, but I haven't had any reason to go back.

Their standard road force balancing is another great plus. I found tires on Amazon at a substantially lower price; Discount Tire matched it, after which I noticed that the Amazon price jumped back to normal ;-).

I have only bought from DT over the years. On my previous Silverado (2012 time frame) I was poor and needed 4 new tires, this was my first experience with them and they worked with me to get me new tires at their cost and let me make payments on them. And have been using them since! The warranty is awesome. They said no matter what happens to the tire it’s covered. I said if I air down too much on the trail and wreck the tire beyond repair will you still replace it? They said yes. Got it in writing. That’s a wild warranty!

This is very true on price increases. I buy Michelin and the same set 4 yrs ago, Defender LTX M/S, were $80 less per tire. Went from being under $1K for all 4 with Certs to $1400 just a month or two ago. Crazy. That's with no discount or rebates but there are always rebates and I had to price match with the Jeep dealer across the street for a buy 3 get 4th for $1. DT matched that for me. But dang prices are stupid. And don't even bring up car batteries, non AGM. Another item the consumer only replaces 3-5 yrs and it's a "need" like tires. So yeah these price increases aren't in your face everyday but they are definitely more expensive.

My experiences with DT have been great too. Just took my beating on a new set of tires for my truck. DT was great, again, but tires sure are expensive.

I’m curious about your Alaska trip experience. Did they require proof that you had retorqued all the lug nuts after the first fifty miles? All the tire stores underscore the importance of doing that with new wheels, but not everybody thinks to bring a I n big torque wrench on a long trip.
Nope. I never thought about torquing the wheels and the DT manager never asked me. In fact, this is the first I've ever heard about checking lug nut torque after 50 miles. Do you also do this after having your tires rotated??? My son just installed a new drag link, tie rod and trac bar bracket in California on my 24 Wrangler 2dr Sport and I re-checked the torque after doing some off roading in Arizona and returning to Alabama. They were still spot on. Just sayin'...

It's never a bad idea to retorquing anything after a short period (and then periodically) . . . especially if it is something that can cause significant damage or serious injury if it comes loose.

It's never a bad idea to retorquing anything after a short period (and then periodically) . . . especially if it is something that can cause significant damage or serious injury if it comes loose.
That explains things! I'm always forgetting to retorque the cap of my bourbon

Don‘t know if this is THR right place to post this or not? But a few years ago I bought my tires at DT. They described the warranty and stuff. I usually decline warranties because honestly I won’t keep up with them. But DT offered a free 5-way rotation when I got my tires. I just had my third or fourth balance and rotation...for free…just as DT said.

We have a lot of great vendors to pick from. And based on my experience, I’d put Discount Tire at the top of the list.
im triggered (as a capitalist not by some woke bullsh*t) by the word discount but i never dealt with them

Do you also do this after having your tires rotated???
I’ve only bought tires and wheels from three companies over the last 45 years. Les Schwab, Superior, and Discount/America’s Tire. All have warned me to retorque at fifty miles after buying new wheels. I’m pretty sure it’s actually in the warranty paperwork, but I wouldn’t swear to It. Although it’s never a bad idea to periodically confirm everything is properly tightened, I’ve only gotten the direction to retorque the lug nuts when the wheels were brand new.

I've used Discount Tire since I was a kid. I lived close to the first DT location. I think it's fantastic that they don't stick it to people who don't know that their TPMS light is on because it has cooled outside. I went to a DT to get a flat fixed and they had a huge plate of cookies they were sharing with customers. I asked if someone from the store had made them and was told that an elderly lady came in with a tire light, they aired it up and checked all of her tires, and told her that it was no charge. She brought the cookies because she wanted to say thanks and wouldn't take without giving. ❤

Do you know if you have to take it back to them to get it retorqued at 50 or can it be done at home? Because I’ve gotten tires from them and never gone back for retorque one time I got tires and went home and took them off and did my brakes. Then reinstalled the wheels and torqued them down. Then checked them a few days later no change. I periodically retorque my wheels if I’m outside and the garage is open. Or after I’ve come back from wheeling. I’ll torque them as soon as I get home and the jeep sits until I go to work again. I don’t want to void my warranty if they need to be the ones to retorque at 50 miles. And if that’s the case I’m screwed.
