Noticed 2 used jeeps I'm looking at have different transmissions? I've seen some with the etorque engine but not a torqueflight transmission. Can anyone help explain what the difference is?

TorqueFlight, Turbo Hydromatic, C-6... these are just brand names given by their manufacturers (and a way for us to tell them apart). I'm not even sure how the current JL transmissions qualify for Mopar branding when they are from a foreign entity.

Same 8 speed either way.

Because Jeep pays a license fee to build them themselves in their own plant. Some are made by ZF and some are made by Jeep. I believe the 4xe uses ZF sourced transmissions.

Cool! Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure, myself.

Diesels and 392s also use German made ZFs. Same transmission except for some minor tweaks for HP and torque, as the units built by Chrysler in the US.
