Device found under dash

I'm assuming this (orange box and red wire) is one of those trackers that dealers/banks put on cars. I am the 2nd owner of my Jeep and paid cash for it -- no loan. The 1st owner most likely had a car loan. Maybe it's from that original purchase. So, I'm going to cut it out but wanted to make sure it wasn't something else that I wouldn't want to mess with. It is crudely wired with DIY connectors, etc. It's obviously not a factory item.

Thats a pretty safe bet, could always remove it and check for part numbers on it.

defiantly not OEM, get some info off the label and do a search to find out what it is. kinda scary to find something like this.

I always just recommend doing adding site:jlwranglerforums.com to any regular searches you do since forum search is usually pretty meh

YES, I SEARCHED AND LOOKED AT THOSE THREADS. THAT'S WHY I ASSUMED THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. BUT IF SOMEONE RECOGNIZED THIS PARTICULAR BOX AS SOMETHING ELSE, I DIDN'T WANT TO F ANYTHING UP. Thanks for your input.

I found one in my daughter’s Bronco Sport. Crude vampire taps and frayed wiring screaming “professional“ installation. Straight to the round filing cabinet.
