Defroster Randomly Turns on

Since it has gotten cold the defroster comes on randomly, I count every 5th start it will come on full blast in the front and the rear comes on also, the front blast for about 1 minute then turns off and everything is fine, while it is doing this you cannot control the HVAC at all. This started after a battery change but cannot confirm if it is related since the weather also got colder at this same time. It has been to dealer, 1st time they updated the software and it seemed to go away for about two week, only to return. It is at the dealer again for another issue, and they checked all the wiring, fuses, etc... and can find no issue. they are stumped. Anyone else expereince this?

I noticed you're in TN. Any chance you're having colder weather then you've ever had in recent memory? Up here in the north both of mine start out on defroster when it's below freezing.

That’s interesting, had it since 2018 and pretty sure it has been at least this cold a few times. Is this known feature? Seems pretty useless though, because it only runs for 1 minute, lol

In mine the defrosters and heated seats come on anytime I start it under 40F...
In the settings you can opt to turn this off, but frankly I love this feature...
But mine stay on till I turn them off...

I never noticed this while living in Texas but since moving back to the Midwest after retiring I’ve seen it come on automatically when temp drops to 35-40 so I guess normal.

do you have your heat/ac set to "AUTO?" Mine comes on when I remote start it and its below 40F, I turn it off after I hit the button to run. As a note, my wifes Renegade does this also, but only when the heat/ac is set to auto. I have also noticed when the humidty is high, and its cold, IE its snowing or generaly when windows fog over, mine will kick on the AC even with the heat on to defog things.
Pesonally, I don't mind it.

I have the lowest-level sport trim, no AUTO AC; it's all knobs and manual. I even have roll-up windows; it's a Jeep, so I wanted it to be minimal -lol. Anyway, if it's a feature, I would think the dealership would tell me that, but then again, these dealership service departments leave a lot to be desired.
