So I recently bought my 3.0L eco diesel. 35 days later it’s in the shop for a bad turbocharger, dealership stated that it was covered under warranty but the part was backordered until mid September.

I contacted jeep costumer support who confirmed it was backordered. But I was also told that if I purchased the part my self it would be reimbursed.

so I get the part myself, but the dealership is now refusing to do the work as they say they will not get paid.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

Maybe sounds like if you're going the route of getting the part yourself, that Jeep's expecting you to pay the dealership (or whoever) to install the part and they'd reimburse you for both parts and labor. I could be wrong, but that would make the most sense if the dealership's thinking they'll not get paid.

I'd have Jeep's Customer Care clarify about labor reimbursement before paying out of pocket, though.

Yeah I would think you will need to pay labor also, which is a huge job from what I understand the whole body has to be removed to get to it.

They probably should have told you that part also. The warranty work is one group I bet for a dealer, they are sent the part and paid X to replace it.

Good luck though maybe Jeep can help.

I spoke to jeep, and they told me inwould be reimbursed for the part under warranty. As the labor should be free under warranty, but jeep trying to pull what you stated makes too much sense. As it seems like they do not care about customer service even a little bit.

But wouldn’t the labor still be covered by whoever they bill under warranty? The only thing they wouldn’t get paid for is the actual part themselves.

The labor's still being covered (should be), it's just that Jeep's reimbursing you for the labor instead of the dealer. By ordering the part yourself, you've basically taken over the part of the dealer to get things taken care of. Imagine that Jeep only wants to cut a single check to cover the entire repair and it's either going to you or the dealer in whole.

Although not palatable, the dealer’s reply actually makes sense.

You torch a turbo, can’t wait, buy your own.

Neither the dealer or Jeep can confirm the part you’re handing them isn’t a counterfeit or “will-fit” since it was sourced outside of their distribution.

The dealer is on the hook (“You didn’t tell me not to use this pa) with both you and Jeep should the replacement of which they got no sale take a crap.

Let’s say you got the part from their neighboring dealer who can prove it’s 100% OEM certified. Why not have them do the replacement?

Let’s say you got the part from a dealer a thousand miles away who can prove it’s 100% legit. Why not have the repairing dealer source from the selling dealer?

At best, I think you might get the repair covered under goodwill and while canceling future coverage of failures. At worst, you need to return the turbo from wherever you got it and tell the dealer to do a dealer to dealer search.

My questions is: is the part is on back order, how where you able to get the part and the dealer not?

So the issue is not whether it is oem, it’s 100% oem. I called Mopar, and their was only one dealership in the dealership that possibly had one, and I called them and purchased it. jeep wave, and keep customer support all stated i would be reimbursed for the part and work would get done.
and I can’t take it to the dealership i purchased the turbo from. I’m in Nevada and the dealership is in Montana.
Customer support is trying to figure out a way to pay the dealership, which is absurd. Considering they would be the ones paying for the warranty work anyways.
and according to the dealerships, they don’t buy directly from other dealerships. They have to make direct orders from the Mopar warehouse.

Dealerships can only make their orders through the Mopar warehouse, according to what the dealership and customer support have told me. And I was able to get it through purchasing it from a dealer directly. I got the last turbo for sale in the country. All turbo chargers are backordered until mid September.

They’re feeding ya a line to excuse their own lack of finding the part. Dealers can do dealer to dealer sourcing. In fact, it’s become extremely common as a result of the supply shortage.

Since you have the part and the dealer part’s invoice, I think you’ll come out okay. It’s just going to take some extra effort unfortunately. Is there another dealer you can go to or are you stuck using the one in Tonopah?

There’s a few others I can try, but keep customer support is currently Trying to see what they can do with the dealership. Just a totally frustrating situation to be in, when I find a solution and more problems keep arising.
