So did your dealer give you delivery date when you ordered the second time?
They don't give delivery dates, but do provide general ranges. 6-8 weeks is the most common I see reported here.

Again, I knew going into this it was a craps shoot. It could be first down the line, or early 2019. Looks like I'm on track for 12-13 weeks which is acceptable. Takes the same amount of time to order a car from Germany, so I feel like other manufacturers are considerably more organized and efficient.

Ever order a pizza from Domino's online? You get online tracking for a $7.99 pizza. This below would prevent 80% of the communication to their reps. Only cases that truly require escalation get through, and they could require you to do so through your dealer and their rep.

The Jeep I order 9/12 was escalated and this is what I was told:

"Vehicle is in the Gateline Schedule Status with a build plan timing of this week. We would encourage consumer to contact us back next week for an update."

Considering I already had an estimated build date of 11/3 previously, I'm not feeling confident...

If people keep busting on FCA about their special orders maybe they might stop taking special orders and just build vehicles the way they want and you take what you get. People sound like a bunch of spoiled kids. Jeep is under no obligation to provide tracking or keep you in the loop. You are special ordering the vehicle and Jeep will do the best they can to accommodate you if you’re too rushed to wait then buy off the lot. Custom suits , custom anything takes time. And the same people will want zero defects and they want a good price also. Most of the whiny people I read have 10 new cars in their garage already. I’m paying for a rental car right now while I’m waiting for my jeep order. It is what it is. I understood that going in. Grow up.

I don't expect minute by minute updates, although many automakers do offer this option.

I expect my vehicle to be built in a timely fashion, and to be provided with a time frame. I ordered 9/12 and can't get a peep of information, just canned responses, and brush offs. Members that have ordered anywhere from my order date to 7 weeks after have already been built and dealers are now showing 2019 stock. This is unacceptable.

It is not unreasonable to expect current tracking updates from any company in any business these days. I cannot comment on any auto company besides FCA since this it the first time I’ve ordered a vehicle since 1999, but FCA is pitiful in this arena. There were third parties filling the gap of FCA’s deficiencies but FCA shut them down this last week. It’s unfortunate that FCA doesn’t care about customers. I’m really excited to (hopefully) receive my JL at some point but my faith in FCA is zero (not based on tracking but other issues as well).
