You guys are making me anxious!

MY 2019 JLU Rubicon, purchased Dec 13, was picked up on Thursday morning, Jan 31 to go in for nano-coating. I asked them to look at the instrument cluster because it was rebooting every 30 seconds when the outside temp was below 30 degrees. (and it was rebooting for the driver who came to pick the Jeep up so I pointed it out). I called the dealership Friday morning, thinking my Jeep was coming back that day, and was told they were ordering a new instrument cluster. After a week, I just called again and they said "The part has not come in, we will call you when we have an update."

I have been reading the posts of folks dropping their Jeeps off on the same day as mine went in and being told it will be April until the part arrives and now I have anxiety. They left me a little Renegade with a window sticker on it that I refuse to drive lol.

Luckily we have an LJ tucked into the garage that I am driving until my Rubicon comes back to me.

File a claim with @JeepCares to have them assist with speeding the shipping up.

I dropped my Jeep of on Jan 30 for the cluster issue. I got it back last night. I was originally told April. After working with @JeepCares I am back in my Jeep after nine days. In my original post I said I understood that new models come with a degree of bugs and glitches that will arise, but was concerned about how long it would take to fix. I am pleased they communicated with me and got it back to me repaired quickly.

Yes it seems to be fixed. This morning it was 30 degrees outside and the gauges worked as advertised. If anything changes I will update.
As for those who are waiting on the back ordered part reach out to @JeepCares and they will help you out.

I have the same issue with my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Only in the mornings, never the afternoon. Tach and Speedometer freeze and instrument cluster reboot over and over and over until eventually it catches and everything is fine the rest of the day.

Hey guys..

I seem to be having a similar problem. Tomorrow will be a month since I purchased my brand new Wrangler JLU. I'm a first time Jeep owner and I love it so much, but this issue is so frustrating!

Pretty much since day one the instrument cluster was doing that rebooting thing here and there when I would first start the car. I kept an eye on it and eventually realized that it was mostly happening when it was very cold out and I hadn't driven the car for a while. One day on my drive to the gym, the instrument cluster rebooted consistently the entire 10 minute drive there, but then not at all on the way home an hour later. It seems to stop once the car is warmed up about halfway, on the gauge in the dash. I called my dealership Jan 31 and the earliest appointment they had was a week later, Feb 7.

When I dropped the car off first thing in the morning they said I would have to leave it overnight so they could "recreate the situation," despite having a video of it rebooting over and over again. They had never seen that issue before. I hear nothing from the dealership for 24+ hours. The next day I call and speak to 5 different people and sit on hold for 20 mins 2 different times and NOBODY can give me an answer about my car. It honestly seemed like they couldn't even find it. Not one person I spoke with had any idea what was going on with my car and the advisor who took it in wasn't working that day of course. It stays overnight a second night.

I called first thing in the morning on Saturday Feb 9 and finally speak to my service advisor who tells me that they couldn't recreate the situation and needed it to stay over the second night. She said they were doing a "software update" and that would take x amount of hours. When I speak with her again she said the car was ready for pickup and that they had to "reconfigure the system" 2 times, but now it works. I pick it up late Saturday afternoon, tested it afterwards a couple of times throughout the night and again on Sunday, making sure the car was cold and I hadn't used it for a while before starting it up and it seemed to be fine. I was so relieved. THEN, I get in my car to go to the gym last night (Monday) and it does it again!

I can't understand that this is an issue that hasn't been worked out yet. Is the solution just that the cluster is bad and I need a new one or is it something bigger? I am going to call the dealership again and see what they say. But this forum has been so helpful to me, so I thought I would get some opinions on here too.

Thanks, Nicole

Nicole,

I recommend you might try a different dealership if your getting that much trouble for them to get into it and start it up which is where the problem is seen. My guess is they did not reach out to FCA and we're trying to lead the blind in "figuring it out". Unfortunately your the one stuck in the end. If you have a cold week coming up and a different dealership to go to I would try that and explain to them it happens in the cold morning and maybe some of what you have read on this forum to help guide them. Also I would call @JeepCares to file a complaint/get assistance from one of their advisors Incase the issue is replicated they can help expedite the parts.

Thanks for writing back so quick. They did see it happen and decided to do the software update/reconfiguration. Called the dealership again and was put on hold for 10 minutes only to be told that they will call me back and to just bring it in again. But I'm nervous about doing that only because they left me for 2 whole days with absolutely no information. This run around is so frustrating.

I'm thinking it's either a battery issue, wiring issue or it's just a bad cluster (based off what I've read here). That doesn't really narrow it down does it. Going to look into @JeepCares and also FCA I guess, call the dealership yet again and possibly find another dealership to go to.

I've had my 2019 Sahara for 5 weeks and have had the continual dash reboot issue 4 times. Each time in the morning and each time for about 10 minutes and then things are fine. My Uconnect radio has gone bonkers (random jumping through the menus and making phone calls) 3 times.
Had dealer check it once, no problems found. Took pictures and showed them and asked them to call FCA to find out what to do. Haven't heard a thing. They said they would give me a loner and keep the jeep and see if it happens. It could be there 2 weeks and it might not happen so I am living with it until they come up with a fix. Another couple of months and it will be warm and probably won't have any problems.
Others have new dash clusters on order and because of back orders, they won't be in til the weather warms. Seems to be more a random cold weather issue. I hope FCA figures it out soon and comes up with a fix.

2019 JLU Sport S
Hi,

My new 2019 JLU Sport S is having these same issues. I have not yet gone to the dealership. It started happening shortly after having its first car wash and the temperature dropping here in Cincinnati, so not sure which may have caused it or not. What is the best way to explain the issue so that the service desk at the dealership knows what's going on and can quickly take care of it? This Jeep has under 500 miles, or at least that is what it says...

Thanks
I posted in this chat in early January. I wanted to give an update. First, thanks to @JeepCares, this blog and members for help. I picked up my custom ordered JLU Sport S on December 27th. I cannot remember when I first started seeing the issue, but I suspect it was January 9-10th, two weeks after purchase. Lots of reboots, RPM and speedometer vibrating at zero while the car in motion, even at 75 on the highway. Also, the digital odometer would not advance when having the issue. I made an appointment and went to the nearest dealership on 1/15 and they could not replicate this issue and the odometer was only off from the PCM by 1 mile they said. They also said the odometer must be at least 100 miles different from PCM to be an issue. Meanwhile I had begun communication with JeepCares through this forum. Temp drops significantly a week later, very cold out. It pretty much happens every day multiple times during the cold. I let JeepCares know the issue is not fixed. JeepCares creates a case of some sort and assigns me a contact, we make another appointment for 2/4. This time I have video as well. 2 days later they say they were able to replicate the issue this time and had ordered a new "cluster." However, they tell me once the cluster has been ordered, you cannot drive the jeep because the mileage is set at the source rather than the dealership and they need to match. It was set to be here this week (2/11), but now delayed until 2/26. My advice to those with this same issue is to A. get a video of the problem B. be in contact with JeepCares and C. try to get the dealership and anyone you have to deal with this to review this tread. D. attempt to schedule your appointment with the dealership when its cold. E. figure out a way to get a nice loaner option because you may have it for a while. Good Luck. I will post again after driving, and let you all know if the replacement fixes the issue(s).

Lydia, Thank you for reaching out. I just sent a private message.

Made an appointment to bring it back in for Friday which was the earliest appointment they had. Will update when I have one-

Thank you everyone for your help so far. This seems to be the only place I can get any real information.

Yeah so unfortunately I have gone through this myself. I got mine had it for about a week and a half before mine went bonkers with the same issue. I brought it in to the dealer and they discovered some electric security gate thing was bad in it already (because they could not get their handy dandy computer which tells them how to do their job to red when connected to my OBD2 Port [input cinicyzum here because mechanics aren't what they used to be]). They "fixed the issue and could not replicate my complaint" and gave it back to me. 2.5 hrs after getting it back and parking it low and behold does it again so I record again and complain the next day again. They gave me a loaner and asked to keep it for 3days to test. Next morning sure as S*** it does it for them and they go ok we ordered a new cluster. Now the saving grace for me is I called Jeep complaint ppl and started the case the day before drop off and they were able to expedite the parts when they talked to the dealership. Still took almost two weeks but I got my Jeep back on day 14 of turning it in to them. For this I thank them. But overall I feel like you could be going through the same thing with this case too just be prepared and semi patent.
