I’m telling you guys just undo the door checks and just push them in the door. No more noise and one less step to have to take the doors off and risk scratching the paint more. No other Jeep had door checks before. The issue is a foam bond glue that was suppose to stop noise and stuff cant hold up I guess, but everything says they are still welded or rivited in spots so the door is not actually coMing apart.
Wouldn't the door checks just rattle around inside the door? That seems way worse than the clicking when opening the doors.

Thought I posted this before, but it must have been on another forum. On the wife's '21 Willys, both front doors started this creaking thing. I originally thought it was the door check, but removing that only removes the resistance when opening, making the creak disappear, but not fix the problem. I heard about the reinforcement coming loose from the skin so I removed the inner panels and ran a thick bead of silicone along the top of the entire horizontal reinforcement inside the door. The noise is GONE. Repeated it on the other side with the same result. Now my '23 is starting to do it on the drivers side. I'll get to that soon. Wish I still had the pics, but they were deleted.
When I started to take the door apart I realized the window had to be disassembled so I bailed. Am I correct?

It's been like 2 years since I've done it, but I believe I just put the window all the way up. Don't really remember, but it wasn't that much of a job.

Edit: Found one of the pics...

Can't we just remove the door stops to remove the stress that is making the noise?? And would that make them rattle inside the door? I would theoretically be able to open that door slightly further. I like the door stops sometimes, but miss the "old style, fly into your cowl" door style too. BTW, my tailgate makes a creaking noise too.

I have six years and 184K miles. You get can get used to the noise, and it doesn't continue to get worse. It doesn't seem to affect door operation at all. I'm a fan of it ain't broke.
Btw, I never potted the locker sensors I was told would eventually fail. 🙂

I don't agree you get used to the noise, but some don't care. I do agree it doesn't affect the door operation and doesn't rattle while driving. If they did I would throw them in the trash.

So I watched a video and decided to just take the bolt out that attaches to Jeep. Shut door slowly. Two loud pops later it is recessed into the door. Door swings freely old school style. Makes the door feel much lighter when opening and closing. It also allows the door to open an extra 2-3" which is nice for my bull in a china shop dog. Not sure if I will do the 2 front doors since they also pop albeit much less. I will get used to it, but for now there is zero popping in that door. Hopefully no rattling with the door stop inside. Shouldn't be.

Wait til you park at an angle and find the door won't stay open. 🙂
Drove 5 JK's so even though I'm used to the convenience of a door stop, I bet I can deal with the old school way of the JK. It's annoying that I have to alter the function of the door to get rid of a design flaw.

Just remove body bolt then push catch inside the door and put the body bolt back in the door jam. problem solved!

I can't find where I got this from now, but I had a "creaking" coming from my tailgate/back area too. The fix was to rub Dawn dish soap on all the rubber sealing the windows and the tailgate and it completely fixed it. I thought it was the frame twisting, that was how bad it was, when I was moving at slow speeds. It just needed some lubrication to stop it from rubbing. Just put it on my hands and applied it like you'd apply lotion to your skin. I had to reapply every 6 months or so at most, not that often and only when I noticed it come back. See if this addresses your issue.

No creaking in that door is great. I think I will do this to all the doors. Never been a fan of the door stops anyway.

New to this site…bought a 21 Sahara with 24k miles in February because it had some warranty left. Has been in three times to local dealer for cracking doors. They lubed it and changed some parts in the doors. Still cracking like crazy.

Spoke with dealer today and they said that they will not do anything else about it because a “regional” someone told them that the doors were functional and that I am the second owner.

This is my first Jeep and I’ve never heard of factory warranties not being transferable. Also never heard of something being “functional” as a denial for warranty service. Obviously they see a problem with the doors if they have already tried to fix the issue.

Suggestions? I feel like they are trying to delay things until the warranty expires in a month.

You can read thru this thread and try some of the suggestions. Or you can live with it. It IS functional. Mine's done it from year 1 and it hasn't gotten worse or broken in the next five years. I think your dealer tried, at least.
