So am curious what people think on this. in my video I call it death wobble but ive now realized its definitely not.

but what was happening is whenever my wifes jeep was going 70+ and hit a bump it caused this until speed was dropped below 60ish.

I took it in to dealer the replaced the steering stablizer and it seems fixed for now, but I read that that is just a bandaid. note her jeep only has about 20k miles on it.

so I checked underside and all seems fine except for both front shocks are leaking. so my question is could this be the actual cause for the steering vibration issue????

Steering stabilizer is typically the culprit but bad shocks do not help. And yours is leaking a lot for its mileage.

If the shocks are leaking you need to replace them anyway.

It is hard to tell from the pics but shocks do something called misting and you will see a bit of oil thats normal. Leaking shocks you would see streams of fluid. You have to extend thr shock to confirm.

Your shocks look super dirty so they might have been leaking for a while I dont know.

thanks. yeah I though her shocks seemed to be leaking quite a bit. I actually got drips of yellowish oil on my finger originally but didnt get picture of that.

I did setup an appt already cuz they should be replaced under warranty still.

yeah I was suprised how dirty it was, but if its leaking oil I imagine it becomes sticky and makes it look bad.

one of my wife's jeep shocks had no oily residue so I think the 3 of them are definitely not acting right. and my jeep doesnt show any signs of oily residue on any of them.

That looks like a tire balance issue to me. Try swapping the rears to the front or have your tires balanced.

If you have 3 out of 4 shocks that are bad, then I would say it’s certainly contributing to poor handling.

If the Jeep handled fine at one point and is now not handling very well, then something changed. 3 out of 4 shocks could do it.

thats a good point. I hadnt thought that route.

only reason why I wasnt thinking that is cuz my wifes jeep is still completely stock sport S, only done easy drives, most of its miles are long trips on highway.

thanks, yeah that is what I was thinking.

only thing I was hoping for is someone else that had an issue like mine, replaced bad shocks then good.

I already missed on testing that, cuz dealer already replaced steering stablizer and it seems better after they did that.

Vibration in the steering wheel, time for a close look at tires. 20k miles is enough to wear-in some patterns if the tires are not properly inflated and rotated.

I did have the same issues as you at 17,000 miles. I had the tires balanced as that is what the shop said was the issue and I also added a Falcon 2.1 steering stabilizer and a Rusty track bar brace. Issue was resolved but if I had to guess what resolved the issue I would say it was the tire rebalancing.
