Cost to install defroster / wiper

Hello all,

I know the answers may be different depending on the area but I wonder if anyone know the cost to install the wiring for the defroster / wiper on the hardtop? I bought my JLU as a soft top and purchased the hardtop from a friend.

Also, if I purchase the wiring, is it something I can do myself?

You need the hard top wiring kit. It runs about $170+ . (at least the JK kit does) It's wiring and a new stalk on the steering column, etc.

I do not think the kit for a JL is available yet.

Most people have dealer do the install.

Dealer will get about $120+ to do the install.

I did this on my JKU and it was well over $300 to have it done, another reason why I always suggest buying the hardtop from the factory and adding the soft top later. Much cheaper to do it in that order.

The soft top only has the rear defrost switch as it operates the heated mirrors. I wonder if it also has any wiring to the rear by the tailgate, or if there is an easy place to splice the wiring? This would be nice for use with the Bestop Trektop Pro.
