Seeing all of the threads about the stock clutch failures and with my wife’s JLU being an earlier model(2019), I started thinking about possible clutch replacement on her JLU. I spoke with a local Jeep specialty shop and they said that the cost is very high to replace the JL clutch - almost $5k for parts and labor. They said they would use a centerforce so that may be driving the price up.
That sounded insane to me. So, I was wondering if anyone has had their clutch replaced by a shop or the dealership and how much they charged?

That seems pretty high. I generally expect labor on a clutch job to be $1000-1500. Expect parts markup to be around 30%. So $1300 for the regular CFII clutch and $2000 for the dual friction. So $2300-3500 is more what I would expect for a centerforce install by a shop.

My local offroad shop is awesome, he'd only charge me $500 to do the work and let me buy the clutch. That said I'd probably just take it to my buddies house who has a lift and do it myself, but that's me and I realize most people don't have the skills, time, and/or resourses.

Yeah, I was thinking it would be around $2k-2500. I’ll have to check some other shops to get ballpark prices. I can do basic stuff like oil change, brakes, suspension but unfortunately I do lack the skills, time and resources to do this.
Also, at this point her clutch seems ok without any sign of slipping, etc… with around 40k miles on it. So, maybe it isn’t a real concern for her Jeep.

Had a CF2 put in a few months ago, clutch $1600 thru Quadratec, install at local tranny shop only $800 which was lower than I was expecting. They had the Jeep several days, said clutch went in no problem, but getting the new master and slave cylinder bled properly was a chore. One of the old school guys working there, probably in late 60's early 70's, was impressed with the stoutness of the tranny, said he'd never seen one with so many big bolts! So the OEM clutch might be suspect but the rest of the tranny is stout I guess!

I'd just keep shopping around for the right shop then. Helps not being in a rush or desperate!

If you are looking for a great upgrade, consider the new clutch just released by ACT. We also have a step by step installation video on the site. If you have any questions, I would be glad to help. See the press release here: https://www.advancedclutch.com/arti...or-JEEP-Wrangler-JL-Gladiator-JT-Applications.
Fantastic! I have been looking for more options than just the OEM and Centerforce. Can you give us a quick explanation of situations where the JP5 package would be advantageous over the JP6 package, and vice versa?

The JP5 has our Street-Mass flywheel which is closest to stock inertia. The Pro-Mass flywheel on the JP6 kits provides added momentum (inertia) to prevent stalling or sudden loss of rpm, making it great for towing, rock-crawling or heavy vehicles with larger tires. After driving both, I prefer the JP6-HDSS even for stock applications, but for those worried about losing a little engine response, the JP5-HDSS might be for them. I think what people will appreciate most with our clutch besides the safety and reliability factor is the difference in pedal feel.

@actma.. Any jlforum discount codes?
Maybe in the future. We run direct promotions from time to time. For now we are allowing our resellers opportunity to offer discounts without us competing with them directly on price so you will find it for a little less if you shop around.
