Android Auto Waze and Spotify?

Does anyone know if Android Auto will run Waze and Spotify on the Uconnect 8.4 at the same time?

Every other Android auto platform I have seen can run both - but keep in mind that Spotify is a super-stripped down version of the Spotify App. For example, I've never found the ability to access my personal Spotify playlists on Auto.

Android Auto in itself does not run on the actual head unit itself - it is essentially a relay from your phone to the stereo screen. The actual Android Auto software is pushed at the device side, not the stereo side.

The simple answer to your question is yes - Waze and Spotify are both on Android Auto.

The reasoning behind the simplified apps on Android Auto is simple. Safety. They have a requirement for app makers that are compatible with AA that they can only have a certain limit of taps within the app itself.

To limit the driver's interaction as limited and quick as possible.

This restriction, among others, is forcing the app makers to somewhat re-design and simplify their apps to make them compatible with the AA platform.

Things have been getting better as time goes on. AA is still theoretically in its infancy stage. Hell, it might be a toddler about now. Still has a ways to go.

How about Google Play for music on AA? Do you have access to playlists there? Playlists are critical.

I've read that Waze actually works very well on AA.

Yes, google play music works with Android Auto. Playlists work on it as well.

Negative. And it never will. Waze is google owned and will be kept on Android Auto only.

1. Will waze still report pot holes and police cars!
2. Will I still accumalate points while using Waze while driving?
3. Will I need to plug my phone in to the Jeep or can I just use Bluetooth?

Waze is effectively the same but very minor button differences, so yes to those questions. Finding alternative routes took me a few guesses.

You must plug in your phone if you want to use Android Auto / want anything graphical. Regular old Bluetooth audio and phone interaction works as you're likely used to with other radios wirelessly.

I have not tried Amazon Music as it's not something I use. I assume so as so far I can vouch for Spotify, Pandora, Google Music, and VLC. I set Spotify as my default music, so "Hey Google, play Godsmack radio" launches Spotify radio channel Godsmack.

1.) alerts seem to be the same. It doesn't seem any different than it being on your phone.
2.) Yes
3.) Plugin. I was a bit shocked when I realized it didn't work over BT. I was excited to never have to take my phone out of my pocket.
4.) No, you can use Google Music, Spotify, or it'll play our normal radio behind AA
