Android Auto will do everything but play music/Spotify on day old 2019 Sahara. Any fixes?

I bought a 2019 Sahara. I've rented several cars with UConnect and Android Auto and never had a problem. Plug in phone and set it up and boom, works.

I have Waze running perfectly. Spotify thinks it's playing but no music comes out. When I get a SMS notification music plays with the beep as it comes over the speaker but sounds really tinny. Last night after driving for an hour with just Waze and no music it randomly started working for a minute and then stopped when I restarted the car.

Phone is Samsung Note 9. I have tried multiple USB C and USB A/C cables. I've paired and unpaired the phone multiple times.

I've read some of the threads on this but is Android Auto just something Jeep sucks at? Did I get a lemon? This is kind of a deal breaker.

I have a pixel 2XL and haven't had any issues with connectivity or Android auto on my 2019. I use the phone over car mic and speakers, receive texts on the uconnect screen, and use Waze via Android auto. haven't actually tried Spotify though.

Pixel 2 here and have no problem running Spotify. Haven't tried to do it in conjunction with Waze but have with other navigation.

Hi iwishiwereadinosaur,
I certainly understand why this may be frustrating. Our team would be happy to get you connected with a case specialist to have this documented and looked into further. Please feel free to send our team a private message if this is something you would be interested in.

Just wanted to post back and say that I solved this in case anyone else runs into the issue. Samsung offers an audio app called Sound Assistant for their phones which adds a ton of functionality to Android. One is that it allows you to have multiple apps playing audio at the same time. This is called Dual App Sound. I had this turned on for Spotify. Turning it off fixed the problem. It also turned out that the other way to bypass it was to start playing a song on Google Play Music via AA and then switch over to Spotify. Spotify would then behave normally.

Glad you got it sorted out OP!
