I found a unboxed truetrac on eBay for my d44 rear. Great deal. Half off essentially. Looks new
/uninstalled. Anything to check before installing. Also I currently have lsd but at some point going to install
4.56 gears. I have the gears and kit to get install but don’t plan on installing till next year however I want to change the carrier to the true trac. I can do that myself but would like input on installing. I can measure and use the existing carrier for a reference point for shimming. Thanks in advance for any input.

My $0.02. I like my truetrac but not enough to pull my axle apart and put the existing gearing into it. You may just want to wait until you do the regear.

If you just want to do the carrier without a regear you'll need bearings/races, ring gear bolts and a good set of Dana 44 carrier shims. My factory shims from the Trac-Loc didn't get me there on the TrueTrac. I got my backlash to 4 thousandths and it has been very quiet. Make sure you change the fluid at 500 miles. Be careful with the axle seals as you pull and reinstall the axle shafts.

EDIT: I wouldn't use the bearings from your master kit to do the carrier swap and then use them again for the regear.

Do the gears and TrueTrac at the same time. No sense doing all the install work twice.
