Caring for the Sky-One Power Top

For those that have the sky one power top or a soft top, how do you care for it? What products do you use? I have had convertibles in the past and they start to fade over time and are not as waterproof as they were when new. I want to take care of it from the beginning so I don't have the fading and other issues. Thoughts?

Owner's manual has recommendations. My dealer said he wouldn't get another twill (premium) soft top again because cottonwood tree seeds (or any seeds with fuzzy structure) get caught up in the fabric and are hard to get out.

Are canvas conditioners good? I would like to think to avoid dry rotted over time.

Owner's manual doesn't make any statement one way or the other on conditioners. I'd be careful that any conditioner be rated for the top's material.

I would guess that the material is the same as Bestop. You might reach out to them for recommendations.

I have never used anything special on my soft tops. Bestop makes excellent tops IMO. I, personally, have never had any significant fading. Full disclosure, my Jeeps are in the garage probably 80% of the time.

I too thought about the 303 fabric guards. For the regular soft top, I guess you can use their vinyl protector while you need the fabric convertible top kit for the premium top.

This is a good question. Iv'e got a Sky One Touch a week now and haven't seen anything recommended by the manufacturer, Jeep or even in these forums. I wash my car frequently and always by hand. I use McGuires wash/wax soap so I'm hoping that the wax in the car wash will kind of coat the fabric.
