I previously stated that there was a can where he was supposed to get a 44 according to the sticker but actually has a 35. But people still wanna trust the sticker. I don’t think I’ll give it a try....
I mean the sticker lists it clear as day right there where I highlighted it.

There are only 2 circumstances under which you will have a Dana 44 rear axle in non-Rubicon: You have a manual transmission, or you have the anti-spin differential package.

I have never seen a single instance of a Dana 44 being equipped without either of those two conditions being met. Nor have I seen a single instance of a Dana 35 being equipped where one or both of those previous conditions are met.

100% of the "I thought I had a Dana 44 WTF" posts come down to people improperly reading their window sticker. They see "Dana 44 HD rear axle" under standard equipment, but miss the part about standard equipment being replaced by optional equipment.

Go ahead and keep trusting those stickers guys. As if thats the end all of everything. You are welcome to call the 4x4 Shop in Livermore ,CA. I encountered the vin contradicting my sticker. I’ve already accepted I have a 35 and am totally happy with the 410 in them. The mechanic said I was the 4th jl he encountered. He also mentioned that another jl owner paid for a 44 (on the sticker too) and had a 35 in it.
This thread was to not to trust the vin which is the go to reference for mechanics and vendors. Never have I been asked. About a damn window sticker when getting service.

i guess I got to dumb it down for comments like this. The point is the vin can’t be trusted. Mechanics and vendors don’t ask for window stickers. They ask for vins.
You've got that backwards, bud. And you so much as admitted it in post #9 where you looked at your WS and saw your rig has a D35. I'm going to go out on a limb here; your installer doesn't know how to read the information or just made a mistake and is trying to shirk responsibility for it and blame it on Jeep or Dana and you believed them.

VIN are 17 digits. The content of the VIN depends on the manufacturer and even the model.

Here is mine decoded. No gear ratio...

1C4JJXFM7LW219642
1 = Country or Origin, USA
C = Chrysler
4 = MPV
J = GVR 6001-7000 LBS
JXF = 4 door, Rubicon, Left Hand Drive
M = 3.0L Turbo Diesel
7 = Check digit
L = Model Year, 2020
W = Assembly Plant, Toledo, Ohio, North
219642 = Sequential Serial Number

Now, I can take my VIN and load the WS or Build Sheet which contains a lot of information on the standard equipment of my vehicle and the optional equipment that was add in addition to, or instead of, standard equipment.

Yep calling BS on that. He made a mistake and is trying to make it seem like Jeep doesn't know what they are doing. Again I have never seen a single instance of the wrong axle being installed on a JL, just owners or shops incorrectly reading build sheets and window stickers.

Glad to see you guys finally read the whole tread. Since post nine was I ever demanding a Dana 44? To state the obvious I did accept 35. Hence “I’m happy with it”. But you had shot fires about not knowing how to read a ws?
17 years.... that’s how long my installer has been working with jeeps. But hey you know way more. Lemme add you to my favorites. Took you this long to read the whole thread. Unreal. Of course the ws is always right. Hey dealing are looking out for the best of the consumer right?

Stop deleting the closed bracket at the end of the quote tag. You're breaking the code and causing the quote and reply to run together.

Of course the ws is always right.
So far, the evidence in this thread does indicate the WS is right and you and your installer are wrong. We agree on that.

The sticker was correct. Agreed. I don’t agree my installer was wrong. So I and do not trust the vin. The installer has been doing this for 17 yrs. I’m and one of just 4 JLs he encountered with this problem. If you guys are saying that he cannot read the vin. You are also saying he’s only come across 4 jls? Highly doubt it. It took me 3 weeks to get my appointment. For the record I don’t know this installer and I don’t owe jack to him. You guys are not respecting any of the crap He and I had to go through to fix this problem. He basically had to take apart the axel twice because we and to wait for the other part to come in and while I need the Jeep back for work. You’re just making you case based off of your experience. Besides why would I bs any of this? What do I get out of it? This threat was a warning that the vin is not accurate. I love my Jeep. Hope it goes a million miles as far as I’m concerned

That’s what happens when you try to argue with concrete thinkers. It’s like pulling teeth.
