Not the whole housing, but can you replace the led in the factory housing?

I’ve seen some replacement bulbs that alternate between white and yellow and didn’t know how those could be installed in the factory fog led housing

Yes, the bulbs can be replaced. My Jeep came with the crappy halogen headlights and fog lights. I replaced each bulb with an LED one. LOTS brighter

ETA: I should add that my sister's jeep came with the LED fogs from the factory and brother in law replaced those for an amber colored LED so yes, they can be replaced too.

How difficult was it to open them up to replace the LED? I haven’t examined them but when I replaced my bumper it didn’t look like they were meant to get into.

Looks pretty easy actually. I may try this myself

Not 100% sure, but the OEM LED fogs should be a sealed unit and not intended to have the actual LED diodes replaced (though you can buy full unit replacements from aftermarket companies like Diode Dynamics). With OEM halogen fogs, you should be able to upgrade to just an LED bulb or replace the whole unit with the same fully sealed LED units (which seems like the better option imo).

Here's some pics of the OEM LED fogs. I'm guessing that any diode replacements would require some soldering onto their circuit boards to swap colors.

this isn’t replacing factory leds. This is putting leds in a halogen housing.

Thank you. I don’t believe this to be possible either but have seen people say they did it. I wonder what the headache was for them.
I want to replace my fogs with the amber halo lights but want an amber fog too. Not many cheaper options.

Just an idea, but for a cheaper option you might be able to just buy a pair of yellow or amber Lamin-X overlays (or another film brand) and then somehow wire in some individual LEDs for backlighting, though I'm not sure if you could easily make or find a halo-style surround light.

Personally think I'd just hold off and eventually upgrade to one of the 'cheaper'' or mid-grade sealed LED units from Diode Dynamics or Baja Designs (or Oracle, Morimoto, etc) or whichever one offers the amber/amber style you're looking for.

Thought about luminx but see too much about how the light is more green than anything through the film.
I really like the look of these but wish the fog was amber too.
