I want to setup a hoist inside my garage, but my garage ceiling looks like this (see photo). Do you think I can do the same just like a flat ceiling? I have been avoiding to install anything because I am not very handy, but I just can't think of a way to load and unload a RTT by 1 person. (RTT is 165lbs)

Depends if you want to throw hoops :)

Otherwise I would just make a level box like hoist off the rafters. Should be straight forward to create a drop down with a laid down L shaped with some 2x6 or 2x8 off your rafters. Gives you plenty of room to add an electric wench or manual one.

You lucky SOB… you’ll never hit your head on your hard top with a ceiling that high! Some eye bolts and cam buckle tie down straps from Home Depot and your good as gold for under $25.

Haha yeah Webwbr is much simpler. I was thinking electric hoist base. I am lazy.

Thanks everyone, I'll pay home depot a visit and see if I can get some hardware there.

Instead of using eye bolt, do you think I can get by by using Spare Pad Eye Plates? Maybe mounting them side way? Then some setup some sort of pulley system!?
