Hi there! I have a 2020 wrangler sport altitude, I had one of the camshafts replaced around the 50k km mark. Recently I heard the same dreaded tick, took it to the dealer and sure enough that same cam needs to be replaced again after 26k km. The dealer said that there is now a bulletin out on the cams and I will be lucky to get it replaced within a year. I was talking to some other jeepers in my area and they said that Jeep was replacing engines because of this issue. At this point I'm still under warranty but having the same cam go twice so back to back has me worried for what's going to happen when I'm off of warranty.

Has anyone dealt with this? Two cams going feels insane! Is the engine replacement an option? What else can I do?

Sorry to hear that. I'm going through a 3.6 replacement right now, currently at 9 weeks since it was dropped off at the dealer. My failure was a head gasket that allowed coolant into the cylinder and damaged the block, so not the same as yours.

It took 4.5 weeks for approval to change the engine through the extended warranty company. Hopefully since you're still under the factory warranty you won't have to wait that long. It was another 4.5 weeks for the to get the MOPAR remanufactured engine in. I stopped by yesterday and they are waiting on the gasket set to arrive, there's no eta on the gasket set.

If you do end up with an engine replacement be prepared for a long journey and stay in contact with your service advisor. Good luck!

Your engine develop a taste for cam
Joke aside this issue is ongoing for a while, the TSB is new to me, maybe this will address the issue for good.
Personally if you enjoy the jeep maybe investing in an extended warranty

If you aren't hardcore rock crawling, sell it and get something else. Otherwise, you'll end up like me and others that are past the warranty and paid for our own new engines. Why continue to put yourself through the agony, frustration, loss of use and cost?
