So, regardless of what you think of CAIs, how about hood scoops? I have the S&B CAI (60% off open box)and I like it. The noise at the very least is nice. I've not gotten to 1100mi on my odo yet. I want to have more nice air for my CAI and think this may give more cold air to it. Do you guys think this may be worth it? This rams air in from the fake vents on top and makes them more functional. I know there are plenty of threads of them by themselves, but what if 1 of them rams into a CAI (+filter) and 1 goes into the engine bay? I will obviously cap them when cold/wet weather comes in. Just an ask. I want 1, but I wonder what the impact would be in cold weather vs warm weather (I'm in the midwest for hilly/warm/humid offroad).

If you look around, there are threads where others have installed these I believe, as well as modding the standard Rubicon vents to be functional by cutting the blockers out and adding hydrophobic material. Personally I'm planning at some point to get a 392 styled hood which may have a more functional ram air setup.

Possibly, but how much is there a dif of between $300 for these scoops vs a whole new hood (even if I could find 1 in Gobi? Just a counter option? I would love a 392 hood, but would it go into my CAI and with minimal pricing? I doubt it. $300 is what I'm hoping for lol. or lower.

I have the S&B hood scoops on my Rubicon along with the CAI. There may be plenty of others who have a different opinion but I really like them. I have about 10,000 miles on my jeep with most of the travel off-road, except to and from. The scoops have never had an issue with water even in rain and I never plug them up. I like the added air being forced into the box from the passenger side scoop and the driver side scoop sits directly over the turbo area of my 2.0L engine and helps dissipate the heat, especially at low speeds.

I have the OTB modifications. They are a really well thought out little kit with hydrophobic material already in it. Personaly i prefer making the factory style vents fuctional over scoops because they help draw air through the radiator where scoops can reduce flow across the radiator.
