Holcomb valley is on fire. Started at the west end of John Bull and is traveling east and took out the whole trail

The perimeter map I'm seeing is the same as @Maverick909 's link and shows the western half has been burned but it's two hours old. I would expect they'll probably close the area for a while so yes, I think we can kiss John Bull goodbye for a while. Hopefully they'll get it shut down before it burns much more.

Damn that's sad news. I was supposed to wheel there last Wednesday and it was cancelled. I was planning on running the trails next week. Super sucks.

Camped in the area three weeks ago with the family. Drove my mom to the gate keeper on the west side to show her how amazing that area is. So sad. Really
Hope it doesn’t make its way east or west and take out Holcomb creek or gold mountain. Typically reopening ( if ever ) is 3-5 years

Yeah we were gonna do little JB east to west then down to The Squeeze. It looks like on the map The Squeeze was probably taken by the fire also.

Hopefully it’s preliminary lines and not 100% still and the squeeze and the rock climbing/ camping area, camp ground are ok . But that’s will all depend on wind etc

This is crazy! I'm from BC Canada and just got back from a trip down there. Did John Bull on July 31st... I absolutely loved it and while I'm glad to have been able to do it, I feel gutted that it got destroyed.

Been waiting for a forest service update.
It’s north of JB now but burned the trail past the Tippy Tree up to the peak which is point #10 on TOR.

Same here. Pretty bummed. That’s one of my
Favorite areas to weekend camp with the kiddo. Hopefully the fire crews are safe and effectively crushing that fire
