Jeep Wrangler JL Bumper Recovery Point Cover? Cavfab Rear Bumper

(Me = Newbie) I'm becoming enamored with this Cavfab rear bumper. Imaging hanging out at nighttime, with the tailgate open, food being prepared on my tailgate table, beer in hand.... and I whack my knee on that protruding recovery point, ruining a good time!! Is there a product that can cover/cushion a recovery point? (I searched Amazon and elsewhere with no luck.)

Maybe try getting a foam pool noodle, cut it to the appropriate length and then cut it lengthwise to allow it to grip to the recovery point when you are parked and got the tailgate open. It’s a cheap solution and is easy enough to just slide on when you need it.

I have the Rival Aluminum bumper w/ even bigger tow hook protrusions. All I can say is you learn very quickly that they're there. Some learn faster than others. I bumped my knee once. My wife on the other hand...

She's a big fan of The Cutting Edge movie so every time she does it I say "tow hook" the same way the character says "toe pick". It's great entertainment.

Most of the Cavfab bumpers don't protrude rearward as much as the factory ones, which can be seen by comparing how much of the hitch receiver is exposed between the two. That partially offsets how much of that shackle mount will stick out. Also, with the gate open it's only the driver side shackle point that could possibly have it out for your knees, so a small piece of pool noodle and a bungee would prevent the limp and grimace.

Please watch your step, we know that pain :giggle:
It might sound funny, but we supply a "hookless" version of these bumpers to Australian market where the regulations ban such recovery points as they hang over the overall front surface of the bumper...

Nah, I love those hooks!
Not only are they good recovery points, you can lean on 'em, climb on 'em, great spot for tying boots or buckling ski boots... and you get to watch your wife do dumb things! What more can one ask for?

There's also the satisfaction of knowing that if I ever get rear-ended I get to see how well they impale the @#$% that did it.
