Okay so I installed the Mopar 7pin wiring harness 82216359aa on my 2019 JLU Sport S. THIS JEEP DID NOT COME WITH FACTORY TOW PACKAGE SO THE GRAY CONNECTOR DOES NOT EXIST IN MY JEEP. After completing the installation all the lights work when my camper is connected to the Jeep so that's all good. For my brake controller I went with the Redarc Elite Pro as its compact in size and easy to mount in a stock location. Since I do not have the factory tow package that convent little gray connector is not an option for me. The four wires needed to complete the install are as follows:

Black - 12v Power (25 amp fuse) - This one is easy
White - Ground - Also easy
Blue - 12v TO trailer brakes - connects to the blue wire that's in the glove box after installing the 82216359AA harness.
Red - 12v VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHT TRIGGER - This is my problem, im looking for a location to this without the buttsplice into the harness directly behind the brake.

Has anyone else done this? If so where did you tie into? Where there any issues?

There is a brake light pigtail behind the passenger side kick panel. Green w/ a yellow stripe if I remember correctly. You may need to add a diode in that wire, the Wrangler is touchy with feedback from the brake controller.

Note that if you hook up the Redarc without 12V+, it will set off warnings on the dash when you hit the brakes. No big deal, they clear when you restart the car.

I did the same install you are looking to do, search my handle for my drama, lol.

I just finished installing the Mopar hitch and wiring harness. The hitch install is pretty simple. The harness was a bit of work. The instructions were drawn up by sombody that never did the install.

Anyway, the brake sense wire , or brake light trigger, is indeed in the passenger side footwell. As JeepinPete says, it's behind the side kick panel. I took my panel off and was looking everywhere for a green/yellow stripe wire. Opened up the harness and poked all around and went nuts looking for it. But, lo and behold, after bending my spine into a pretzel and standing on my head, I looked way up in there and spotted a small wire coil taped up to the harness. Got that wire undone and uncoiled and shazam!!! it' the green/ yellow stripe wire you need!!!

I have confirmed it is the correct wire as I have installed a Tekonsha 90195 P3 controller and it works perfectly!

Almost forgot, I used this harness with the Tekonsha controller https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07H84C82J?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
This harness has a diode in the brake sense/brake light wire. I have not tested that a diode is absolutely required, but including a diode makes sense to me to avoid any weird feedback.

I am trying to locate wiring bundle for brake controller under the driver dash. Any advice would be appreciated. Or if you have picture?
