Acquired it from a Facebook marketplace post, he's also a forum member.

Something is up with the rear quarter window supports, where the J-Hook doesn't want to sit properly on the rear bar.
It's all installed right now, he helped me with the install and everything is on there and fits. But we couldn't get the J-hook on either the driver or passenger side to sit quite right. Also, every time I open or close the sunrider it sounds like I'm breaking things. It's SO loud. Might just be it being new and we installed it at like 40 degrees F.
I searched @Bestop FAQ and I did a bit of searching through the forum, just curious if anyone could edumacate me on what I might be doing wrong?

Unzip your rear window, hold it up out of the way, and take a pic of the joint you're referring to. (I know exactly which one you mean; I just want to see if you have them seated flush on the bar.) Those clips are the worst part of this whole kit. They're a pain to get situated.

My wife's JL is naked at the moment, otherwise I'd be happy to take some pictures for you.

And that is indeed the part that I’m having trouble with. I can’t seem to get it to sit on the bar quite right. It sits nice and flush on the passenger side

Swapping back to mine after work.

That piece can be a pain, but it's easier if the window isn't attached yet. Once fitted, the window zips in easily enough.

Oh yea, those are up too far - that J-shaped piece needs to snap down onto the bar. Be careful with it though, they break easy!

Lol yes, that is the problem.

I can wrap the J-hook around the bar, but then when I go to snap the support bar in place at the tub, the J-hook just pops back up and out.
very confused at how to go about it. I’m guessing it’s an alignment issue, I just don’t know where to try and adjust it

Where are you at?

PM me if you want me to drop by for a look. (Maybe tomorrow, I have to go to Boulder today.)
Work and school in Broomfield
Live in Englewood. I have…long days.
I don’t get home till 8pm most days lol
But no school tonight

That said, I’m around pretty much all day Saturday and I’m definitely home all day Sunday.

Here is my initial install:

Just installed again without issues, so you may just have an alignment issue. Pull the windows out and check all of the top especially that back brace to make sure it's all the way back and mounted correct. Keeping the bolts loose until you get everything tight. The top should pull tight enough that you can't velcro strap the top to the bars unless the front is folded back.

If you haven't gotten it by the weekend, I'll run by to help. ?

Read your post at work so once I got home I got to work on it.
Pulled all the windows, propped up the sunrider, popped all the snaps and I flipped it forward to get to all the bolts.
I loosened them all and was able to shift the driver side back like a 1/16-1/8" and THEN noticed that the #3 bow velcro was completely undone. So I velcroed all of that, got all the bolts properly tightened down

AND GUESS how easy it was to button it all back up and proper. The windows fit better, the J-hooks fit properly.

Everything is GREAT. Thanks for the advice!!

I would have taken pictures, but I'm home early enough for east coast hockey and it was time for Bruins puck drop.

Thanks for the help, Gary!
I really, really dig the top. The sunrider is my favorite thing ever. It's so simple to pop open even at just a stop light. It's so much easier than the factory top.

Was considering one for my jlu. How hard to remove side and back windows? Do they fold down well to store in back? I could see me running it safari a lot. Thx

Honestly not much more difficult than the factory one.
And the back window is zippered in which just aids in security for those extra windy days.

But I wouldn't fold them... You'll make shitty windows quick. Get you a storage bag for them, and you've a four door so you have all the room in the world to store them not folded.
