Hey everyone,

I'm newly into the Jeep world and the aftermarket wheels and tire one as well. I'm in the works of getting a 2.5 lift installed, so now I was looking at getting a set of Black Rhino Axle in 17x9.5 with -18 Offset (https://www.blackrhinowheels.com/off-road-wheels-rims-axle.php) I'm thinking of going with 315/70r17 tires, possibly a set of KO2s. The jeep right now is only really driven on weekends as I use a different vehicle for work. I know with 3:45 gears I'd eventually want to re-gear but as its not a DD I'm not so worried atm. Would I have to make any other vehicle modifications to make the setup work? Maybe a different tire carrier, wheel spacers?

(2020 JLU 4DR 3.6 8Speed Auto)

Thanks for everything in advance!

Is there a specific “look” you’re trying to achieve? The above combo will push the tires well outside of your current fender flares ( i.e., poke). The offset change by itself is 2.44 inches, the 315’s are another 1.2 inches, and the rim is 2 inches wider than stock.

Specific look not really, I like the look of tire poke on Jeeps makes it look more aggressive. I've seen a couple photos and it doesn't look like they would be too crazy. With the rims I'm trying to go for the military look

No way on wheel spacers. As a matter of fact, I'd go +12 or +18 with those wheels.

I have the Black Rhino Barstow with these specs on a 2.5” spacer lift on my 19 JLU. I run a 35x12.5x17. I use it as my DD on the 3.45 gears. I don’t see 8th as much as I did with the stock tires but if I am under 72 mph I can hit 8th pretty consistent unless on an incline. Not that mpg matters in a Jeep but I get 16-17 city and 17-19 highway. Here is some pics of what the poke you will have with this setup and some wheeling pics as well.

Thank you for the reference photos as well. To me it doesn't seem like they poke out to much at all. Did you have to do anything for the spare wheel or it's holding up just fine.

I bought the RC spare tire relocation bracket. Holding up fine for 2.5 years now.

I've read with that relocation bracket the view out of the rear window is gone to shit, is that the case with you as well?
You lose some view. It lifts the tire up 2 inches and it’s a 35” tire. I’d say it’s sitting almost halfway up my soft top window. Doesn’t impede the view in my opinion. I always do a shoulder glance before switching lanes.

Hold-on brother. If you’re Canadian, you might wanna check your city and Provincial laws regarding tire coverage, as most province are very strict about tires sticking out of the fenders.

with the set-up you’re mentionning, you wouldn’t even make it out of your street in the Province of Quebec or most Provinces out west. Ontario is the most forgiving one, but even then, they have occasional operations where they’ll apply the law regarding tire poke and suspension lifts, just like they do for motorcycle exhaust.

yeah they do a safety blitz around here once in a while, but half the jeeps all have poke and they barley bat an eye at them. When i first got my jeep i used to ride with doors off and no mirrors and didnt get pulled over once. But obv all depends on the officer right.
