Bestop Trektop tension cable

Has anyone's tension cable broke. The Z pin broke in half on mine. I called to get a replacement and was given a part number for the cable but told I can't buy it. I have to buy an entire door rail kit to get a cable replaced. $174 for a kit, that I don't need, to get a $6 cable that probably sells for $30.

Look very closely at the part and see if it's used in the official Jeep soft top configuration. Bestop is the OEM manufacturer and uses some similar parts across the entire line.

Mine broke on my 2019 Jeep after owning the top for about 8 months and when I called them they sent me the complete fabric part of the top for free and said they were looking at changing the setup because people were breaking them. This was 2-3 years ago. They haven't fixed it yet because the one I bought for my new Jeep last year has the same set up. I'm just really careful with them now. I only use my fingers and no pliers to get them out and in.

If I broke it now I'd design my own setup. It basically just needs to be solid when pulled on and swivel when there is no tension on it. It doesn't seem too difficult to design which is why I'm surprised they haven't. Maybe a short piece of cable to splice to the broken end and an eyelet on the end of the splice that could be loosely bolted to the surround? I'd look at it more closely but mine's off and in storage. I don't know the solution but it sucks they don't have a work around by now.

Bestop contacted me after starting this thread stating they could get me a cable, but that was last Wed. and I haven't heard back from them since.

Just an update. Bestop's marketing team through this forum has contacted me and got the part numbers straightened out. With all of the hassle I was having they have created a new part number to include both replacement cables and are sending them out. This is above what I was expecting and is much appreciated. Thank you
