For me, auto deflators and combo pressure gauges with auto deflators are complicated, too expensive (for what you get), and too slow. There is a simpler and faster way to deflate.
I use a valve stem puller and a n analog pencil gauge. Unscrew the valve stem and grip the valve, still attached to the puller, with your thumb and forefinger. Keep it pinched. Check the pressure as the air rushes out. The air will come out fast. You don't need the valve installed to do it just push the pencil gauge down like you normally do when checking pressure. The deflation only takes 15-20 seconds to go from 38-18 psi. When the pressure is close insert the valve still pinched into the puller and spin it till snug. Check the pressure till it's right. You're going to be within a pound wtih a little practice. Simple and fast.
We have two sets of puller and pencil gauges. Wife does one side and I do the other. Whole thing for all four tires takes about 90 seconds to two minutes. When I have travelled with other jeepers they are still fumbling around looking for their pressure gauge or trying to spin on deflators--if they can find them.
There is a whole industry out there trying to separate us from our money convincing us we need stuff that isn't necessary. In my experience the most memorable adventures are accomplished with the least amount of gadgets.
