So it was worth visiting? I have been through that area a few times and never took the time to stop. I am going to add it to my list.

Worth it? It depends. It's not a place for hard-core off-roading for the sake of off-roading like Moab, but rather for exploration and contemplation of pristine prehistoric Native American ruins in solitude. Besides a few exceptions, many sites are not accessible by vehicles and require various lengths of hiking or multiday backpacking, so you most likely would find the place alone. Looking at the fantastic adventures that you and your wife did, I think you would love it.
