I’ll be in the area for the 4th. A good friend of mine lives in the area and builds awesome homes.

I am not afraid of heights. In my opinion, Black Bear Pass is an easy trail. There is one off chamber spot and the rest is very easy. Just make sure you come to a complete stop if your going to take a pictures some of the places can just be a few inches of difference between I am okay to I am going off the side of the mountain

Folks out east are often unfamiliar with the snow-loads we get from the rockies west — or the fact that our snowpack can vary dramatically from year to year. The last I checked, Mt. Bachelor, a ski area near our home, had received about 35 feet of snow this season and had a base of about 11 feet. The western snowpack seems to be averaging between 120% and 170% of normal.

Oddly, our heavy snows are not being covered much in the news. This has been the second snowiest year in recorded history in the Sierras… I expect most mountain passes to open later than average this year.
