1200 miles on my new rubicon and I can’t wait to get it out on the beach. My newbie question is: Will I need beadlock tires to operate at 12psi? Current rubber is lt285/70r17c bsw m/t Falkens. Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

I'm also in MA and for the beach you won't need beadlocks. 15psi is plenty low

What UNC rubicon and Oversand said and I'll add to it

15 psi is all you need, too low and the wall flex can sometimes favor sidewall cuts/slices so keep your pressure reasonable. also keep in mind beadlocks are worthless or at the very least not as usefull if your not putting on a very strong sidewall tire on it because the more rigid the rim grip is on your tire to enable lower PSI, the more twist your sidewall is gonna be susceptible to and sidewal lbulge. Think of the dragsters and how the sidewall twists. with a beadlock, you want a good tire that can take that twist otherwise the only real use of the beadlock is to prevent dirt from getting into your tire bead and the bead from moving, but you could still tear a sidewall by going too low and having your sidewall bulge too much etc.

Thanks UNC, OVERSAND, AND KARNAK. There may be no better educator than experience, but advice from experienced people is a close second. I appreciate your feedback.
