My wife has had her JLUR for just over a year now and we finally started the upgrades. Over the past year or so we have had it out on a few trails local here in az and a few times up at Lake Arrowhead in Cali. For being our first jeep I didn't really know what to expect but I was extremely surprised/impressed by the comfort and capability in 100% stock form. The wife and I have been talking literally for years about going down to Baja/Ensenada, visiting a few of the wineries, eating all the food, and just exploring. Its taken me a few months to get parts together but with with the goal of heading south in mind this is the start of our build!

Rock Krawler 3.5 x-factor no limits kit
Fox 2.5" DSC adjustable shocks
Fox ATS steering stabilizer
RPM 2.5 ton steering
Synergy sector shaft brace
Rusty's rear tire carrier(backordered, will be in next week)
ADD stealth fighter front bumper(full width, no winch)
Baja Designs LP4's mounted with KC a-pillar mounts
Baja Designs 20" OnX6 mounted in front bumper
Arizona Drive Shaft front shaft
Spidertrax 1.75" wheel spacers front/back
37x12.50r17 Nittto trail grapplers on factory rubi wheels
Tazer Mini

Next on the list is an ARB fridge and some type of lockable storage either in the center console or under the drivers seat. Jeep is at the shop getting the driveshaft built right now so I will post some more pictures later this evening when we get it back!

Hi Victor! As you mentioned, in it's stock form the Rubicon is an incredibly capable off road machine and in the new JL iteration, a quite comfortable daily driver.

Very nice list of parts for your build, it will allow you even more capability off road.

Aside from your ARB fridge, are you considering ways to carry additional fuel, water, etc.? Looking forward to seeing more pics of your build.

Its a possibility but not on the list for the time being. I want to get out there and get some use over the next few months. From there I think we will have a good idea of what our wants/needs will be moving forward.

Yes and i put about 1500 miles on the jeep in the last week with absolutely zero issues. 2 days spent wheeling at lake arrowhead and not a single noise and still very tight. I would highly recommend.

So no Jeep comments, but some destination suggestions. I have been down running around that area a bit on a Baja 1000 team and for fun. My favorite drive is down Hwy 5 from San Felipe to Chapala (where Hwy 5 rejoins Hwy 1). I took that route down to Mulege about 15 years ago to spend a week scuba diving in the Sea of Cortez. That section of Hwy 5 is just amazing...and by no means a hwy...it is (or was) a wash boarded, rutted, repeatedly washed out, roller coaster of a dirt road, but it is like going back 150 years. Puertecitos and Playa la Costilla were especially amazing.

A couple recommendations, make sure you have at least 500 miles of fuel with you and don't pass up an opportunity to fill up, even if you don't need it at the moment. Also, taking some type of portable fuel filter is not a bad idea. Finally, be super careful. My Baja team finally quite competing in the Baja and switched to U.S. racing because it was so dangerous down there. The crime and corruption are simply out of control. Expect to get stopped and shaken down at checkpoints and assume there are well armed and exceptionally violent cartel members within a few miles of you where ever you are 24/7. If you can go down there as part of a big event it is better, but still crazy dangerous...and that is coming from somebody who spent the better part of 3 years rolling around all the garden spots in Afghanistan and Iraq.
