Just installed the rugged ridge tire carrier (on the spartacus hinge) and i see a lot of my wheel at the bottom of the backup camera. Now, dumb me, I cannot remeber if this is how it was with the stock tire carrier. Anyone have this carrier specifically with a photo they could share. Once I get the tire mounted I fear I may see a huge tire!

I don't have my Jeep here to take a comparison picture, but you do see much more of your wheel than mine and we have the same wheel offset. I only see a little bit of the bottom of the rim and your shows a lot of the bottom and sides. It makes me think that your camera is maybe at a different angle than factory (probably down). I went from a -6 offset wheel to and AEV +25, I would say that your camera is more obscured than the -6 offset.

In comparison, you have less rim showing than us.

If you can send me a photo when you can that would be great. Im not sure how I would even change the angle. I think I installed it pretty simply. Thx!

After looking at the stock one, now I remember. My old wheels, like yours. had the bead lock looking ring, and that is what we are seeing in your pictures. Mine would fill up with water and my OCD would kick in and I would have to clean it out. I take back what I said, I think if you removed the bead lock ring, it would look just like mine. Of course don't remove it, it looks good and you still have plenty of vision.

OK, finally got a chance to take a picture. I have the stock carrier (with Mopar tailgate reinforcement) and the same wheel offset and mine doesn't look any better than yours.

@Mikeyut3, slightly off topic, but how has the Rugged Ridge Spartus Hinge Kit been working out for you? Looking for someone who has been running it for a while. How is it holding up?

I saw some sales for Labor Day, and was looking to get the RR hinge kit and mate it to the stock tire carrier. I am only running a 35, and the RR with the hinge replacement seems like a nice sweet spot between the budget options and the over-engineered options meant for 37" to 40" tires.

Its been fine. I am running a heavy set up so I had to play with it to get my tailgate to shut properly. I would basically say I had to install it forcibly a little too high so that when I put all the weight on it “settled” to the correct location. But so far its been totally fine.
