We just completed our first Colorado trip, first trip in the Jeep period. Ophir Pass, Imogene Pass, Poughkeepsie Gulch, and Engineer Pass. It was amazing. Requested hard badges and hoped they'd show up relatively soon. After an initial shakedown daytrip to Hidden Falls the badge showed up in about 10 days. For the past week or so I've been checking to see if the status has updated from 'Requested' for the new badges. Today it did:

I know it's silly, but I was really looking forward to slapping these on. On the bright side, we did get our first duck in Raton on the way home!

That’s a great wheeling trip. We did it for Labor Day last year. Did you do the wall or take the bypass on Poughkeepsie Gulch? Since you were already there, why’d you skip Black Bear Pass?

Black Bear pass makes me nervous. We were staying in Ouray and wanted to do a loop to the west (Ophir -> Telluride -> Imogene) so decided to do the easy ones first until I have more experience.

Second day we did the northern part of Alpine loop to Creede and then Colorado Springs to see some friends. The stretch from the highway just south of Ouray to the turn onto Poughkeepsie Gulch surprised me with how challenging it was. So I definitely didn't feel like I was ready for the wall. Even the bypass had me pretty stressed out!

Had to leave something for next time ;-)

We did a bunch of trails in Colorado and Utah the last two weeks of July and I received the badges today, Imogene, Engineer, and Ophir and five of six from Moab, Golden Spike is back ordered.

My hidden falls took about 10 months. My buddy got his in about 2 weeks so it looks like they're back in stock at least! I got my black gap in less than a week.

I spoke to some locals who confirmed Black Bear Pass is now open, no need to go around anything, and the gate is open. San Miguel County Road & Bridge haven't updated their site, but there are folks doing it.

A few years ago, idiots did the same thing at Poughkeepsie gulch. They cut the lock to open the gate and others drove around the gate.

This is the time of year when college summer internships come to an end. Clearly what happened here is that the “summer Jeep badge intern” is no longer there, and the Senior Assistant Coordinator to the second administrative admin of the assistant manager in some Jeep customer service department is now having to pick up the slack. Hence “backordered.” ?‍

The San Miguel County Sheriff has been posting that Black Bear Pass is not open. I’ll confirm when i get there on Thu. I play by the rules. Citation money is better spent on mods and good food.

Yeah, that's why I posted about that closure. Ignoring people here periodically results in issues like this where you might not be fully informed about what's going on and end up reposting stuff like this.
