Well, my JLU is back in the shop, this time for duration unknown. They tell me it’ll be at least two weeks, but it may be longer. They need to replace the vibration dampener, but it’s on backorder.

In the meantime, they tell me I can’t drive my vehicle (safety issue) and they put me in a rental. Of course it’s not a comparable vehicle - it’s a front-wheel drive Cherokee, but it’ll will have to do. I’m still paying each month for a vehicle that cost 50K, but I’m driving 30K vehicles each time I go back into the shop. I’ve had a transmission leak within the first 3 days of delivery, more electrical issues than I can count at the moment (most of which have been intermittent and service has not been able to reproduce - they did replace a tail light and the infotainment system electronics), and now this.

If Chrysler can continue to build these vehicles on the assembly line there’s no excuse for having parts on backorder that result in owners being without their vehicles for weeks, especially when it’s a safety issue.

I absolutely loved my 2015 Wrangler, and I thought I’d never own anything but Wranglers until I was too old to be able to get in and out of them, but now I’m sad to say, unless Chrysler can do something to make this right soon, I’m done with Jeeps.

Sorry for your loss.

The FCA business model heavily prioritizes building hundreds of thousands of units to sell regardless of the spotty (I’m being generous) initial quality rather than putting a little more effort into building a defect free vehicle. This in not debatable. They also seem to order only exactly as many parts as are needed for new vehicle production with little concern for buying spare parts to fix the janky ass broken Jeep you just bought. This will continue to be the way they operate until such time as we stop happily buying so many new defective Jeeps and their profits suffer.

I drove mine away from the dealership and got a light a few miles down the road. It’s the ACC. It will occasionally work for a while, then shut off and give a malfunction message. Fortunately the regular cruise control works. Supposedly the mirror/camera/sensor unit needs replacement. Think they’ve got a spare one at any dealership in the country? Nope. Think they’re going to allocate one earmarked for production to send to me to fix my Jeep that I’ve already bought from them? Nope. Think they’ve got literally thousands of these parts in the Toledo plant being placed into brand new Jeeps every week? You bet your sweet ass they do. Buy they’ve already got my money. Fixing the Jeep that I bought so that I can use it in the manner intended (and advertised) is not something that takes precedent over getting another $50K from another sucker - err, “valued customer”.

No, it’s not just Jeep. But that’s who’s got my money so I have zero concern if Toyota and every other manufacturer is doing the exact same thing. That’s not relevant to me. So everyone feel free to shove your “that’s what a warranty is for” comment straight up your butt. A warranty is only as good as the integrity of the company standing behind it, or lack thereof. A warranty that you excuse your way out of by saying “we sold you a defective vehicle and we’ll fix it, but not until it’s convenient for us” isn’t very useful for me today.
