So I have a 18 jl rubi that I managed to shear the axle at the fad. I found a set of axles out of a 21 gladiator jt sport s with 373 gears. The best I can tell is the jt housing is the same width and possibly has thicker axle tubes, ? Looking for any one with true knowledge also if my 3rd member will fit into the jt housing

mine is a JLU Sport... I installed Gladiator Rubicon take-off axles.. perhaps not identical in width to your axles since yours is Rubicon and the take-off are Sport S? also.. 3.73 gears?.. you will need something like a Tazer to reprogram the computer..

Front axles are direct fit... rear axles the control arm brackets are different, so you have to remove the brackets and weld new ones.. . also.. the brake line banjo connection on the caliper side is routed differently and a real pain to fabricate brackets and route and secure the lines .... unless you found the Gladiator axles for dirt cheap and you can do the work yourself I do not recommend you try to fit Gladiator axles on a JLU... it is much easier to wait and get JLU Rubicon take-off front axles.. I recommend you go to local 4x4 shops and ask
them to notify you when someone upgrades axles and let them know you are interested in
buying the take-off axles..

I published a thread where I discuss the details of what I did to fit Gladiator axles to my JLU..
I will find it and I will update this thread.. :)

BTW... what do you mean by 3rd member? LOL

3rd member is just a drop out diff. Basically you can remove the ring and pinion from the housing as a separate assembly. I think the question he's asking is: Will the pinion and carrier assembly work between a JT axle and JL axle. The answer being, yes, of course.

Thanks , so ya there a great deal and I'm definitely on a budget. So I really only want to use the front axle. I'm trying to confirm that the (3rd member ) lol ,or the carrier, gear set? out of my jl 4:10 will fit into( pumpkin) lol of the jt with 3:73s. Thanks this is my first jeep I've run fj40 my whole life , so this is a learning curve. So my jl snapped the axle next to the carrier,,or the pumpkin,(3rd) I've considered replacing the axle tube , I've narrowed front axles before, so this is also a option. Thanks again

yeah... those M210 axles on both JL and JT are the same.. you should have no problem swapping diff / pumpkin components...

It's not like the Toyota 3rd member though where you can just move it over -- you'll have to install the pinion and ring gear, set pinion depth, backlash, etc. Gear work.
